They don't even know how to get the checks to everyone right now, so I would guess not.

Lot of questions that need answers, better yet... how about action.

You don't know who needs it. There is no "likely" category in this situation. Everyone has a different financial situation and budget. Everyone has a different level of debt and money management.

Blanket payments is the most equitable way.

Two guys making $75k a year. One has LOW expenses, savings, high credit card limits with low utilization, etc. He probably won't need $1,000.

Another has high expenses in an expensive city. Maxed out cards. Rent is squeezed by every month. Paycheck to paycheck. $1,000 may make the difference from living another month to jumping off the roof of his building.

The last I heard it was $1,000 per American over 18 and $500 for each child under 18.

Couldnt get my pension 1099 from Boeing because they screwed up my home address which I very carefully corrected three times until they got it right five years ago. And now those cretins still couldn't get it right this year? I had to send in (fax, actually) a notarized statement about my address change. Just handed in all my paper work to my CPA accountant a week ago. Still waiting for it to get finished so we can sign it. Probably get our bonus payment before we get our 1040 signed. We got our last several refunds deposited electronically so hopefully the same will be true of the stimulation payment.

Yeah my wife told me that they made her send in another form a couple weeks ago. So it's probably a few more weeks before they do anything... If they ever do anything...

This thread title is very misleading. The issue is not the direct payment - the issue is that it is the same bill for everything and the GOP has chosen to lump it all together and included a large corporate bailout provision with no protections for workers and virtually no oversight. This was spearheaded by the same person that denied a sitting president his right for choosing supreme court justices, did not bring to vote multiple bills that were sent from the house and now tries to use a crisis to gain political clout by bundling garbage with real help. That's the problem and I, for one, am glad that Pelosi is not willing to let this tyrant run amok.

This is not the time to inflict long term damage in the name of short-time relief. We have had enough of that crap since the start of the Trump/Moscow Mitch administration.

That bill was supposed to be a $1T billion and it managed to jump to $2T within days. Honestly, for an administration that has told us to just wait and everything will be fine to require immediate action after wasting 2 months of preparation is hypocritical.

ok, rumors are the white house is refusing to budge off of a provision in the stimulus they want: a 500 Billion dollar slush fund that Steve Munchin can control and arbitrarily dole out to corporations. If that's not bad enough, the disbursements would be secret and the Feds wouldn't have to reveal where the money went for at least 6 months....which is kind of laughable two different ways: that it's secret; and that the White House would comply with the provision anyway

if even half of this is true, it's really bad.

after all the crocodile tears from the R's about "small businesses", they appear to have not added much of anything for them.

Can't be mad at that since Trump wanted to just be different than obama.

This has always been the case. This is where our country is right now. A Republican could get up and say something entirely liberal and the Democrats would boo him.

Trump could get up and offer to ban all guns and the Dems would be like, "nah bro.... we're cool."

Nah, if Trump offered to ban all guns, liberals would take it.

But if we're analogizing what this thread is about, it's as if Trump offered to ban guns, but said Mexicans and Muslims need to banned from the US too. Then liberals would turn it down and other people would be like, "Damn, even when Republicans give Democrats what they want, they turn it down!"

If there's ever been a great example of the pot calling the kettle black, this it.
