There is certainly a lot to blame the Chinese government for. Not the Chinese people though. And Trump's need to show the world that America has a cleaner asshole than China by calling it the Chinese virus, will have real world xenophobic consequences here in our nation. It is 100% unnecessary. And, there is a lot 0f blame that should be assigned to Trump and his team for the lack of preparation here in our nation. I guess if you get your citizens to blame someone else, they won't be looking at your shortcomings. His deflection is incredibly transparent though.
If it came from the wet market, why would you not blame the Chinese people? Dirty, unsanitary cultural practices. If it came from the lab, then yeah. Government is to blame, and we should probably wage war against the Chinese. The whole Chinese virus thing came after China was suggesting that US solidiers planted it in China. Its a propoganda fight against each other. China is trying to deflect blame.
Pretty sure that most everyone knows how/why this happened but it's not like their government actually wanted this to happened, not just because of the loss of life but it's really screwed with their economy as it has ours.
I personally think the government has a responsibility to put safety measures in place for things like that. They should have been outlawed or regulated safely (if possible) years ago. I'm not going to blame the people for doing something that their culture has practiced for years, even if they are guilty of being ignorant of the consequences of their actions. There is a difference between ignorance and WILLFULL ignorance (which is the difference between the people and the power in charge). Just my 2 cent. And even if you or others find it necessary to blame China, there is still no need for the leader of our nation to change the virus name to childishly rub it in China's face and also demonize it's people to our populace. Because our ignorant sorts will indeed start to punish and harass anyone who looks like they might be Chinese. Once again, the WILLFULL ignorance of our leaders vs the ignorance of a percentage of the population.

Why do they deserve it? Because they spread information, dragged their feet on treating it as an emergency and tried to keep it quiet. Exactly what he has done. Meanwhile, South Korea hasn't fucked around pointing fingers, and despite (a) being much closer to China, and (b) getting their first case ON THE SAME DAY the US got theirs, already has it largely under control. Also, why is Trump "throwing shade" at the Chinese govt.? Not because they deserve it (otherwise he would throw shade at Russia for their interference in US elections) but because he thinks it suits his interest, because it distracts idiots from the disastrous fuckup he's making. And evidence points to him being right about that.
The narrative has to be set. The Chinese are masters at propaganda. They are trying to deflect, for what is their fault. Strong messages need to be sent. Yes, people will harass asians in this country. Its just how it is. Nothing is going to change. It'll happen more, but it was going to happen anyways. I hope some of these harassers get their just desserts.
If you don't recognize the source of the pandemic and keep that in the public eye you suffer real world consequences. That wet market shit needs to be cleaned up! There have been other viruses that originated there and killed many people. We don't need more of that shit.

When trying to downplay the epidemic, Trump praised China's president for the great job he as doing. Now that he can no longer pretend it's a hoax or just like a cold, it's yellow peril.
Wut? China is who loudly downplayed the virus. First they said there was no problem. Then they said that the virus could not be spread by humans. Then they silenced their leading medical professionals who knew the truth. Then they said it was planted by the USA.
Every scientist, doctor, and prediction model says the early in the process the spread is limited the more effective the results... Wednesday March 11th: No groups of 250 or more edict set. However schools aren't shut down until Monday March 16th. Friday March 20th: Shelter at home order not given because people will stay home! We'll have a more detailed plan on Monday March 23rd. People flock to spring break destinations over the weekend since they weren't ordered to stay home. Seriously, what the fuck isn't the government comprehending here?
Trump also downplayed the virus here. Said it was no problem. We have it under control. Go about your daily business. And then continued to spout unscientific views about the virus and its treatment. And then deferred all blame to China. One did it first. The other did it second. Not a big difference really.
