The best trade in Blazers history was Tom Owens to Indiana for their 1984 1st round pick.

It's not close. With the right coin flip call or pick and Portland has MULTIPLE titles.

Aldridge should be a lot higher IMO.

Accept the Blazers not only lost the coin flip and didn't land Hakeem...they also didn't pick Jordan. Therefore it is not my number 1. My number 1 actually won us a championship

The trade is separate from the ineptitude that followed

The Pippen trade was pretty ass.

Sabonis was actually drafted in 77...

woah! he was drafted as a 12 year old!?

I would've put trading Johnny Davis for the Pacers 1st round pick in 78 wasn't too bad either. Ended up being the #1 pick in the draft (Mychal Thompson).

Ironically, it was another year where Portland missed out on an all time great (Larry Bird)...tho somehow he was able to go back to college after the Celtics picked him up in the draft.

That still confuses the hell out of me.

    Fun list.

Just curious as to when Buck Williams was a "dominant center"?

Not only that, he was anything but a "behemoth". Dude was 6'8" and wasn't significantly bigger than Clyde Drexler.

If you want to talk about funny trades, look at how Randolph Childress was

1: traded to Portland as a future draft pick (Drexler trade)

2:from Portland (along with the draft pick that ended up being Theo Ratliff) to Detroit for Shawn Respert.

3: Back to Portland (by Detroit) for Otis Thorpe.

4: Back to Detroit (+ scraps and Aaron McKie (who was later on was traded with Theo Ratliff to 76ers)) for Stacey Augmon.

From what I can see, they changed the rule shortly after that draft to prevent teams from drafting players who would be returning to college, but at that time, it was permissible.

It would be interesting to see what kind of negotiations the Blazers had with him.

He was actually a middle of the road sized PF, looking back at things. In fact, he was smaller than I thought.
