We may very well have seen Carmelo's last game as a Blazer (and possibly his last game in the NBA) but I didn't hate him as much as I thought I would, and this makes me respect him more:
Theory 1: Shumpert was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Or Theory 2: His dentist really, really likes the color chrome.
Carmelo Anthony will be the most overrated Hall of Famer, aside from all the 1960s Celtics in the Hall of Fame that aren't Bill Russell and John Havlicek.
I was being slightly tongue-in-cheek, but it's essentially criminal how many Celtics from that era were put into the Hall of Fame: Tom Heinsohn K.C. Jones Sam Jones Frank Ramsey Bill Sharman Clyde Lovellette Bailey Howell (Not including Russell and Havlicek, of course. And I didn't add Bob Cousy as I consider him more of a '50s player, though he played his last few years in the 1960s. I also didn't add Jo Jo White, who started in 1969.)
And the Hall of Fame is for everything...college, NBA, international play. So I have no real problem with Anthony in the Hall, I just think he was one of the more overrated superstars of his era.
Sharman is basically a 50's player as well, which is why I didn't mention him or Cousy. Lovellett and Howell are names I don't know that I've even read before.
Remember when Larry Brown tried to kick Anthony off the Olympic team because of his half-assed immature attitude? Under George Karl in Denver the league thought of him as a team star, but no league superstar. Once he was in New York, they worshipped him and his overrated reputation began as a fake superstar. Knick stats translate to Blazer stats like pesos to dollars.
