It would be tougher than you think. Ainge never backed down or was intimidated by anyone.
As crafty and as physical as guards get.
Also, Ainge is the best All Around Athlete to Come from Oregon.
All State QB, baseball, basketball, scratch golfer, competitive swimmer, and world champ 1 on 1! Lol

And Dame would still destroy him.

Maybe, put Dame doesn't always respond well when he's got a bigger guard in face and fronted. Ainge was a good defender, he pestered guys!

They use that guard to move him towards the other defenders don't they?

    Dame would blow by him.

Probably, but Ainge was ver quick in getting to the hoop too.
Dame is by far the better player.

Bonzi Wells vs. Isaiah Rider would be good.

Back in 63 Spent the summer working at my uncles wrecking yard on North LV Blvd, across from Nellis af base.
Every morning The Thunderbirds would practice right above me.
I also got to watch EK ion 67 wipe out trying to jump the Caesar’s fountin.

How would Clyde stop Nurkic? Nurk would also eliminate the rim as an option, making Clyde one dimensional. Easy win for Nurk but the poll results are going to say otherwise. Bigs never get love in these hypothetical one on one scenarios, but they would dominate.

No they wouldn't. You've got to be able to shoot from deep.

Why? That’s a lower percentage shot than a layup, especially if we’re talking about Drexler, who wasn’t a good outside shooter. And how’s someone gonna get a shot off against a seven footer in a one on one, it’s not like Nurk has to worry about anyone else. And it’s not like Nurkic can’t shoot either, but he wouldn’t need to because he can just back Drexler down at will.

I have no argument with your Nurk vs Drexler scenario. I just don't think bigs would dominate in a 1 on 1 tournament. Somebody like Lillard would win in my opinion. His opponent would have to guard him 30 feet from the basket which would make it relatively simple for him to drive by and get a layup if he wanted.

sure but that advantage works both ways and I think it’s more likely an nba big makes up whatever ground he would lose with his length than Lillard finding a way to defend a 7 footer that outweighs him by like 100 pounds.

Size matters, but you can't camp in the key. They would have a 3 second rule.

Have you ever had a 3-second rule when playing one-on-one?
