Because Stotts doesn't want to take minutes from Melo?

no, I wasn't basing those numbers on last year's stats, alone. Those were career numbers

and I don't know how you concluded he was "stronger around the rim", He only attempted 7 shots at the rim this season and that's not enough attempts to know much. And his rebounding was way worse in those three games than his already poor rebounding rate last season. But again, way too small a sample size

I'd be confident he'll develop more core strength, but he's never going to be a strong big man. He'll have to rely on mobility, length, and finesse

Really? He played a whopping 3 games this year. You know perfectly well that his career numbers almost entirely reflect his rookie year.

This is why I don't trust any of your stats. The amount of bias you bury in them is silly.

    WTF are you yapping about...??

Zach has played 2 full seasons, not just his rookie season. He's played in 156 NBA games and he's had consistent minutes with a consistent role. He played around 1100 minutes his rookie year and over 1600 his 2nd season

156 games and 2800 minutes doesn't have any sample size bias. That's a valid gauge of what he's done so far

Zach Collins his rookie year played 15.8mpg. He shot 39.8% from the field and 31% from three.
Zach Collins his second year played 17.6mpg. He shot 47.3% from the field and 33.1% from three.
I personally find it disingenuous to combine his 1100 minutes played his rookie year with his 1600 minutes played his second year in an attempt to find a baseline for Collins.
Both are large enough sample sizes to stand on their own.

He was projected to be the starting 4 this year by default, as really Tolliver was his only competition.
Would those %'s hold up? Who knows. Collins has always looked better playing with the starters than the next group.
    One thing is for certain.
It's said bigs make the biggest jump their 3rd year. His % across the board went up in his 2nd year. If he was able to maintain those % it wouldn't have hurt Portland given his abilitys on defense.

Did you could see it when watching him go through guys arms attempt even was smaller size. Now his rebounding can do better but you have realized how many times he switched off smaller guys so naturally he is not position to rebound.

that's a poor excuse. Of course he's going to switch on defense as a PF. All NBA PF's do. Aminu did all the time and still managed a better rebounding rate. And Zach spends half his time at C where rebounding is more important and where he remains closer to the basket

he's maybe not worth a max deal, but a lot of guys who flash big-time potential get significantly overpaid on their rookie extensions. And he has flashed big time potential by averaging 22 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 64% on two's and 41% on three's.

there's another way to look at it though. Say he signs a max 4-year deal which would be in the 128-130M range. Call it 32M/year. That would mean the Hawks had him for 8-years/141M counting his rookie deal. That's less than 18M/year and it's a big reason why teams are willing to had out big contracts to their prize rookies

Damn John Collins max? Crazy how many good players came after Zach. Bam, John Collins, Jarred Allen, Donovan Mitchell, even Kuzma..

And to think we had 3 picks that year! Smh

I ran into Zach Collins last night at Walmart. I asked him about the Bad Motherfucker nickname. He didn't remember telling anyone that he wanted that, but he was good with it. IMG_0694.jpg IMG_0694.jpg IMG_0693.jpg

I honestly don't mind taking Zach over John. I think he's an empty stat kind of guy and plays terrible defense. Same (but more so) with Kuzma. But missing on Bam is going to hurt for a long time.

Zach’s going to be very good. I think we got that draft right.
