When I say I don't eat fast food I mean during everyday life. On road trips and stuff like that...occasionally
I remember when McDonalds first opened up in Portland and one of the first was around 122nd and NE Glisan and hamburgers were on special for $.15 then went to $.25. I originally grew up living right behind Montavilla park so it was pretty convenient.
@riverman , I always enjoyed reading The Far Side. I'll attach a larger image so people can read the caption at the bottom. And an additional one for fun!
Hot N Now....... I remember there was one on like 36th and Powell! Being a SUPER broke 20 year old, that place saved the day.
I ate a White Castle in 1965. God damned tiny patty on a parker house dinner roll. It was only ten cents but I still felt ripped off. I usually eat fast food about twice a year but since the virus I've already had fast food three times if you count a Papa Murphy's pizza as fast food. The other two were a McDonald's plain hamburger, no sauce and a Burgerville halibut fish sandwich, light on the sauce. I don't eat no McDonald's fish sandwich because it's pollock and not cod or halibut. I don't eat no damn pollock. This is Easter so family tradition dictates a braised leg of lamb with potatoes, carrots and onions. My grandmother used to serve candied yams and rutabagas on the side but those are both bad for people on dialysis. My wife processes the potatoes by peeling them, soaking them in water overnight and then giving them a two minute boil, throwing out the water and adding the processed potatoes to the leg of lamb. That gets rid of about half the offending minerals that could stop my heart in large enough quantity. Now, for the beer, I've got my choice between Tsing Tao, Kirin and Coors (not Coors light).
Malcolm Gladwell has a good podcast called something like Unexpected History... something like that. He did a whole show about how and why McDonald's fries are different today. Fun and interesting. Worth listening to.
White castle is good as fuck if you are wasted. I remember I was in Vegas hungry as fuck and about 30 people in line. I didnt want to wait so I gave 10 bucks for 2 of their burgers to these guys who had a bunch of them
Is White castle that place that doesn't have ketchup, tomatoes or lettuce? If so, fuck that place. Worst place ever.
Uh yeah we do that up here. Burgerville is good but reading these comments you’d think it was the best place ever. We think we have the best beer, wine, food, and so on. Every region does.
For chain places Off top of head i go: 1) Five guys 2) Fudruckers 3) In N Out 4) Cheesecake Factory - don’t believe go try it 5) B’ville Straight fast food 1) Jack in the Box 2) Carl’s Jr. 3) BK 4 Wendy’s
So what qualifiers as fast food? They have to have a drive thru? So Five Guys would be out? Cause if not, five guys blows burgerville away. and I like burgerville. I think its better than all the big others like Mcd's, BK, DQ, Wendy's, Jackin the crack, etc.
