There you go, fight fans. Three cards during the pandemic. The fight we wanted to see didn't happen with the UFC and Khabib Nurmagomedov bungling it. We did get to see Gaethje take Ferguson's (interim) strap in a fantastic performance. Dom Cruz met an inglorious end that not only saw his contendership go down in flames, but his reputation as well after bitterly accusing the referee of being a drunken fool. Some other stuff happened, like Ngannou murdering Rozenstruik. Tex beat Smith and is well on his way to being pummeled by Jon Jones in a rematch from six years ago. Alex Hernandez got obliterated again. The Reem just about beat Walt Harris. Other miscellaneous fights. Jon Jones wants to fight Ngannou now? Jacare Souza and his cornermen potentially (probably) contracted the virus trying to make this happen.
I have a feeling that Khabib would have dropped out of the May fight anyways; knowing what we know now with his dad in critical condition and over 20+ family members being infected and some even dying from Covid-19. I enjoyed the fights; I thought it was a bit reckless to move forward, but I really think it was good to watch some fights and get my mind back to a more normal state. I really am glad that Gaethje got the win; but it sucks we won't see Tony vs. Khabib. I think Ngannou murders Jon Jones. I think his chin is close to cracking and I think Ngannou is going to be too big for him. If it goes past 2 rounds, Jones' chances shoot up but I think Ngannou puts him out in the first 2.
I felt it was worth it to see some fights as well. The lack of a crowd was weird from a pure excitement standpoint, but it was enlightening to see Tex apologizing to Smith in the middle of the fight for beating him up so much. Makes you wonder how often that happens and we don't catch it. The only downside I saw was Walt Harris losing. If there was ever a sentimental favorite in a UFC fight it was definitely him.
