I don't know shit about guns. These riots have me thinking that its time to start thinking of acquiring something. Its doubtful, but I guess its best to get some knowledge about it all.

I know in California, you are pretty restricted.

Are shotguns good? I know they sound/look intimidating.

Start with cap and then work your way up to BB in a few years.

Nah, I have some realistic looking BB guns from Japan. One is a glock and another is a desert eagle. They were cool. Long time ago, prob in the crawlspace in my parents house in Oregon with my transformers

And with all your sword and knife talk I just figured you were a felon and couldn't own a gun.

    Get a .22.

    Ammo cheap.

It's enough to stop someone but most likely not kill them.

I don’t ever plan to own a gun but.....the .357 would be my first choice if I did. All ya gotta do is wing ‘em and it’s pretty much over (The movies be damned).

Shot guns are only good for close encounters. GUns have many forms and purposes, just like knives. Whats your preference? TO sit from afar and shoot any anyone approaching? You need a rifle.

My personal thought( been thinking about it like you)
Is go with the .9MM. most have clips to carry 12-15 rounds and can be loaded quickly. They will generally stop most anyone from continuing an assault, but unless you hit the target in the right spot, they generally don't kill.

But really. Its the bullets that you need. boxes and boxes and boxes. Bullets go sooo quick. When target practicing, it seems We ALWAYS run out before we are done.

I would have thought shotguns are a bigger deterrent. You also have to figure a situation where many criminals are coming at you at the same time, so I guess something with a lot of rounds would be best.

Well if you want military style to stop many coming at you, your AR-15 is a go to. Good luck finding one though.

Get more throwing knives. Unlike guns, after you mow down an attacker with them, you can retrieve them to use again.

My guess if you are holding a shotgun no one is going to want to be the leaders coming at you. I

To me shotguns are slow and bulky. If you find your self a 40 round military shotgun? sure, but most have ot be individually loaded, even if they hold 10-15 rounds. Once you fire out your rounds, you are stuck. Ids much rather have a bag full of clips for quick reloads.

I just saw that video of a store owner pull up in his SUV, take out his shotgun and started blasting. People got out of there with the quickness. Seemed to be intimidating with the Rooftop Koreans.

If you're modeling this on video games, and you appear to, just keep checking crates. Eventually your sword will be upgraded to a shotgun which will be upgraded to a submachine gun.
