Donald Trump's economic adviser Larry Kudlow has vowed to end $600 unemployment checks distributed as a result of COVID-19, calling them a 'disincentive to work' after the president proposed giving Americans a $4,000 tax deduction for domestic travel.

    ...

His remarks come after Trump proposed giving Americans a tax deduction for domestic travel that he says can help stimulate the economy after the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

The president mentioned his 'Explore America' idea during a roundtable meeting with travel and restaurant industry leaders last month.

'Create an 'Explore America' — that's 'Explore,' right? Explore America tax credit that Americans can use for domestic travel, including visits to restaurants. That's a big deal.

The tax deduction would be applicable for vacation stays at hotels, and even could be applied for eating at restaurants, the president said, according to a transcript.

Americans would be able to claim up to $4,000 tax deductions under the plan, the US Sun reports.

Since it's nearly impossible for me to travel, I'd be eating in some pretty expensive restaurants.

First, I love to travel, so if enacted, this would likely be the first Trump decision that will actually work in my favor, so, yeah.

But, travel to a restaurant? I suggest we only do it if it goes to black owned Soul food restaurants or taco stands.

Do we get it if Grubhub needs to travel with our food from the restaurant - because of the pandemic, yo?

Why doesn't he do everyone a favor and give us a deduction for domestic beer?

I can't believe Republicans actually support shit like this. It's why I think Trump voters are more in alignment with racism and xenophobia than true conservative politics. Y'all just full of shit.

“It’s kind of like an addiction”: On the road with Trump’s rally diehards

“You go to the rallies, and he basically tells you that you don’t have to put up with ‘the swamp’ and those kinds of people,” said Saundra Kiczenski, a 40-year-old Walmart worker from Michigan who has been to 29 rallies. “Because of him I decided not to pay for Obamacare, not pay the fine. And what happened? Nothing. Before, the quiet me would have paid the fine. But Donald Trump told me that we have a voice, and now I stand up for myself.”

The Trump rally die-hards—a few dozen men and women who have been to more than 10 rallies—are almost exclusively white. Many are recently retired with time on their hands and little to keep them tied to home. A handful never had children. Others are estranged from their families…

All of them describe, in different ways, a euphoric flow of emotions between themselves and the president, a sort of adrenaline-fueled, psychic cleansing that follows 90 minutes of chanting and cheering with 15,000 other like-minded Trump junkies.

“Once you start going, it’s kind of like an addiction, honestly,” said April Owens, a 49-year-old financial manager in Kingsport, Tenn., who has been to 11 rallies. “I love the energy. I wouldn’t stand in line for 26 hours to see any rock band. He’s the only person I would do this for, and I’ll be here as many times as I can.”

lol....blow another hole in the budget and increase the unbelievable national debt in order to encourage people to visit trump resorts and stay at trump hotels.

it seems such an inefficient way to leverage tax deductions and stimulate the economy

He should reward his supporters and encourage them to attend his rallies by offering a tax deduction for contracting Covid.

    2 things:

If $600/week is "disincentive to work" and people are making more doing that than from their actual job, maybe take a harder look at helping people make a living wage. Shocking. (Unemployment is, after all, mostly for people who, you know, lost their job in a, well - you know - pandemic.)

    2) trump is a fucking moron. A tax deduction? So they have to have the money up front? I mean, unless im totally off base, tax deductions come at the end, yes? We cant just take it right then.. I just can't. I literally can't.
