Because getting shipped out of Portland, then Atlanta, was the attitude adjustment he needed.

Having a team led by Chauncey Billups was all he needed....that was a great team with that starting lineup and Lindsay Hunter coming off the bench...perfect chemistry

Really it wasn't even that. The Pistons won a championship when Sheed was with them for a very limited time. The next 4 seasons in a row they suffered because he was on the team.
The question should read. Why didn't Sheed ever lead them to a championship when he played a full season with them. They literally started the next season 24-5. Then the meltdown of the Pistons was unstoppable.
By the way Sheed left Robert Horry wide open again when they played the Spurs in the Finals and that was that for Raweed Wallace.

Sheed, Sabonis and the Towel was not as good as The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.

    28% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Once again, he says he shouldn't've done it, and he apologized at the time, and they were cool. I would've been pissed too if I got a chipped tooth, especially if (as he says) they TOLD Sabas not to do "that flopping shit". (And I say this as someone for whom Sabas is probably my fave Blazer ever.)
