Performance progressivism. This accomplishes nothing, and anyone following either school is going to continue calling it the Civil War. Similar to the OU-Texas game being changed to Red River Rivalry several years ago. It's still the Red River Shootout.

    How about white chocolate?

    White Sugar?

    White Paint?

If we, as a people, are too stupid to distinguish the difference between calling people of any color "a color" vs inanimate objects for better descriptiveness to associate with (dark chocolate vs.white chocolate),
then we are soo far worse off than I even thought.

Its fucking summer but the snowflakes are spreading like its the snowpacolypse of the century!

I don't mean to demean the BLM movement by any means, but I think it should be stuck with humans and items innacurately depicting historical events.

Do we need to rename the Black Panther and the Albina Leopards?

    Should White Salmon be changed?

Should White people be changed to being called various peachytoned people?

    Overkill people.

Yeah it’s stupid but doesn’t matter to me really.
Might as well sell the game advertising rights and make some money and donate some of the proceeds to a good cause.

I am not sure I buy that. Maybe for this year. But I find it hard to believe college and professional sports will just go away forever if we don't get a vaccine. And there is a decent chance we won't get one that is 100% effective.

You have a point that American sports fans will generally be the type willing to catch a deadly illness to own the libs, but after how quickly the case counts have spiked after reopening, I think very large, risk averse institutions like sports leagues will be reluctant to stuff 20,000-80,000 people into sports stadiums for three hours at a time. And we don’t know if crowdless games are going to be compelling TV yet. A lot points vaguely toward a pessimistic new reality.

Well, we are a bunch of cockroaches, we will adapt. I get that some internet posters could stay in their parent's basement forever without coming up to see the sun, but most people need to socialize. A restaurant is probably more dangerous than a stadium. You have to take off your mask to eat. My guess is masks will also evolve so they are more comfortable (and stylish) to wear. (We are vain cockroaches) Either way, sporting events are not going away forever......too much money is involved.

As for crowdless games, some networks mute the crowd noise so much already it is hard to even notice they are there unless they pan the crowd. Again too much money is involved not to.

Money is not an excuse anymore.....and people can socialize this day and age much better from isolation than ever before...we're doing it right here. Cell phones and tech have actually made this easy....people just need immediate gratification and they should be reflecting on how to avoid this getting worse....it's only been a few months for Christ sake....people on the spacestation survive long stretches without social entertainment because they have technology to connect. If this pandemic spreads more, that money is going to lose a ton of value overnight like it did before the great depression...social gatherings could expediate the onslaught of the next great depression..I don't buy that any of it is necessary until we have a proven, reliable vaccine...buy food not tickets....the food harvest this fall is going to be horrible as most was left to rot in the field as it stands...

Like you said it has only been 4 months. I am not talking about this year. I am talking long term. Sporting events are NOT going away forever if a vaccine is never developed. And it might never be developed.

And even if money is devalued like you allude to, it is always important. Someone needs to pay their taxes so all those who are out of work get assistance. Sports generates a ton of tax revenue. The more likely scenario of expediting the next Great Depression is keeping the unemployment rate high. We need tax dollars more than ever.....and not only from the top 1%.
