I can’t even begin to comprehend how this is ok with any republican that is remotely decent. And before the asinine jokes that will further drive America apart, yes, they do exist
I saw a bit on TV where apparently he called BLM a symbol of hate, and the person on tv was surprised. I wasn't, we have a long history of making groups that are labeled "symbols of hate" not subject to the same norms of discourse between people. I.e., we're allowed to hate them, dehumanize them and we're not bad people, *because* it's about hate. He gave racists (and racist sympathizers) an out. They now can internally justify why they hate black people, POC, etc...because the President said they were a hate group. I can intellectually understand why he did that. It makes sense, because like I said, it gives people an out. They can rationalize away their bigotry and racism. But in this case? I simply cannot fathom how anyone thought this was a a good idea or makes sense.
Still there will be people who support that MFer because they are ignorant and blind. They'll still be screaming "This is just liberal nonsense" from their non-masked face in public.
This generic bird logo design dates back at least 2,000 years. So many sad, desperate, ignorant nobodies grasping for their 15 seconds of twitterfame.
The use of the Eagle in logos is obviously historical, and done for a reason. It has long been considered a sign of power, etc...but one thing you might notice (if you aren't playing up a character on a message board) is this. The badge for Portland Police, that cheesy Obama thing, the US Quarter and the overwhelming theme among the use of Eagles in US logos/seals/coins, is to have the design of the logo, and direction of the eagles face match the "Great seal" logo, which is looking to the left (as you are facing it). Also, that eagle holds an olive branch and arrows in its talons, or in the case of the quarter, sitting atop a branch. You will also notice that none of these are atop a globe or a circular design, which is what the Trump logo and the Nazi logo did (the Nazi symbol did have some facing left and right). Trump (or whoever designed it), intended it to be similar enough to the Nazi one to create controversy, so they could "own the libtards!" But whoever designed it, it's ugly. It looks like a bootleg item, not a item crafted by a professional artist.
Plus, I notice no one is commenting on the "America First" thing? That's something the Klan believes in, and used as a credo. Symbols are symbols for a reason...
The Geisel library has a collection of his political cartoons - going over them it was clear that he saw the writing on many of America's faults long before most. If you ever have a chance to visit the UCSD campus - I highly recommend it.
I looked into more logos (hey, I'm a nerd) and the Marine Corp emblem is very similar (though the face is looking to the left as is the seal). So it probably is a combo of things. They did it on purpose to "own the libs" and also because he's one of those phony military lovers, who thinks that be creating a logo similar to the Marines emblem, he's somehow a tough guy. Also thinks he's smarter than those in the military, and he can con them with simple platitudes. Like I've said before, he does shit like this on purpose. It sends a message and "owns the Libs". How mature of our President.
I heard(not sure if its true), but the Eagle looks to the leaf during times of peace ,but the image is changed to look towards the arrow during times of war.
I learned that the Nazi Party had a huge campaign in 1938 at Madison Square Garden with huge crowds of Americans joining in.....never knew that before..the Nazi party held more popularity in this country prewar than they admitted after the war
Watch the Oliver Stone documentary series "An Alternate America" or something like that. The first couple of episodes were very compelling about a side of politics during the war that is pretty buried in our educational system.
Absolutely brilliant documentary series... unbridled, unfiltered history, this wasn't the "U.S. History" we were indoctrinated with as kids.
