I give props there. That generation started positive social movements, in spite of tough opposition. But pretty much all other gens throw the boomers on the fire as far as economical/financial developments go.

It is the last gen to have it better financially than the preceding generation.

Not so. I am definitely worse off than my parents. I will never own a home. I did have reasonably affordable college but graduated into double digits unemployment. I was able to retire by not having things.

I don’t necessarily agree (as a Boomer) that I have it better than my parents (at least as an adult). I admittedly have it “good” but what my parents were able to provide via one income took two incomes for my wife and I to provide. And we had a lot of luck along the way. What the “Greatest Generation” started (and passed on to the Boomers) was never particularly sustainable in the first place. Somebody had to pay for the systems and structures they put into place and now the bill has come due. That’s an oversimplification but that’s how I see it.....

Not only that a lot of why the economy boomed post war was due to how decimated Europe was post war. We had the ability to create jobs/economic development and growth that simply put, couldn't exist anywhere else.
We benefited big time for that. Those advantages are gone and are never coming back, no matter how simplistic the slogans are.

I’m speaking in general terms of what I’ve read, the statistics, etc. Like every statistic or assertion, they don’t fit everyone 100%. I made a fairly generic statement, but it’s pretty much true (most other generations are currently throwing the blame for nearly everything on the boomer generation).

Sounds like an uninformed thing to say from someone who's never been to any of the protests. Our marches are 35K strong and 85% white.

You're focused on the wrong things and enabling racists. Those must be your folk you sure are riding with them. Well FUCK THOSE RACISTS. Focus on why people are protesting not how. Because those folks you're supporting killed Martin for being nonviolent. But the thing is, this time your side's gonna lose. WE OUT HERE!!!

“All of my realizations came to this conclusion. Black Lives do not matter to most black people. Only the lives that make the national news matter to them. Only the lives that are taken at the hands of cops or white people, matter. The other thousands of lives lost, the other black souls that I along with every cop, have seen taken at the hands of other blacks, do not matter. Their deaths are unnoticed, accepted as the “norm”, and swept underneath the rug by the very people who claim and post “black lives matter”. I realized that this country is full of ignorance…“

Getting the sense that the only black people you take seriously are the ones who denounce black people.

You might not be a fan of black people. Fortunately, overt racism is dying out as quickly as...well, as quickly as racists are dying off. It is the older generations that tend to be the most racist.

Unfortunately, systemic racism is the bigger problem and that's a lot harder to solve than just waiting for the racists to age out of the population.

Actually, I find the younger generation to be highly racist these days. All you hear from them is how horrible white people are. White people are privileged. White people are ignorant. White people are blind. White people are oppressive. White people are selfish. It’s an all-out assault on whiteness. This is why the statues of white people are being pulled down everywhere—even the statue of Ulysses Grant who won the Civil War that freed the slaves.

Yup, white people are the persecuted majority in this country now. I wonder how they'll survive this organized pogrom against them, only controlling every lever of power, being a larger population and having the culture built around them.

It's incredible how limited your perspective is that you could actually whole-heartedly believe what you're posting. Not all white people are ignorant, but your ignorance has been shining through pretty brightly. In the 1700s, you would have been one of the people saying that slaves were better off and live better lives as slaves, with all their needs taken care of for them.

Ah, so racism is okay as long as its directed at the majority group in a country. Thanks for clarifying.

Learn the difference between racism and civil rights ..your fear of losing white privilege has no place in the problems we face.
