Holy shit, man, in high school I was sent to a boarding/reform school on that lake (NOT a good place to be as a kid), but very beautiful country.

wut?...you plan on being divorced by then?

take it from a man of experience, if both you and your wife are retired, you actually want a big house....one big enough to allow you to hide and dodge. In fact, a big house with several outbuildings is best....a couple of workshops; an extra garage; an exercise room; a tractor shed; a wood shed; an RV port. Cover your property with buildings, walls, and doors with locks. Ratchet up that square footage for peace of mind.

when dealing with women, a gender genetically disposed to be relentless in building a "better" mate, the path of least resistance is the best policy. But that policy is impossible in less than 2000 square feet

Central Oregon. The dry heat I’ve always loved and the smell of junipers. For some reason Bend has always put me in a good mood.

We got 3 trips lined up there in the next couple of months.

I like the beach a lot too but only for a couple days. The wind and rain, seeing rusted out cars can get a little depressing

Vegas is pretty trash. I would only live there if I lived in LA too. Purely for space and to have a pool in the back yard.

I started going camping there in 1962. About 13 miles east of Sandpoint. Haven't been for a few years, but still have relatives that go camping there. There are so.e beautiful homes that ha e been built on the lake over the past several years. One guy even has a out a 6' section of the Berlin Wall that he has in his front yard.

Now thats is funny than hell. We have a house that allows us both to have our own place then we come together when needed an on special occasions.
Ive got a He Shed and I would have an RV without a seperate bedroom for chilling and reading while she messes with the kitchen stuff.
I still have a annual guys fishing trip after 45 years and she has her time with friends.
I was a Road Warrior for (is it ok to use warrior still?) 40 plus years and so it was hard for herb to get use to me being around allot once retired.

Yep, all 3 lakes are great Couer D'alene is much more populated and resort like. The campground we go to is very rustic.

Lake Pend Oreille I've driven by numerous times and it's spectacular. I hear the fish are huge in that lake too. We want to take our trailer there someday on our way to Montana.

Sam Owen Campground. No trailer hookups but they do have a dump station. The sites on the lake are awesome. Another campground is in the same area called Beyond Hope Resort They have hookups there but little trees and pretty open. It's right on the lake as well.

Fishing wise a 30+ lb. Kamlop or Dolly Varden can be had out of the lake. It's only about 1100' deep. My dad was stationed in the Navy there in 40's.

As a kid, my great grandmother lived in Lincoln City and was near D lake. The only problem is the weather, as there is lots of rain.

I don't mind the rain, it's the precipitation that will kill you.

My grandfather was stationed there in the 40's too, Navy too. Used to hitch hike back down to Salem to see my grandmother.

My grandparents also lived at Lincoln City when I was a kid (north/Neotsu end of the lake). It was a great place to spend my youth but it seemed like it was always cool and/or rainy. And it was in serious need of a bypass in the ‘60’s. It’s way worse now with the outlet mall and casino. There are definitely nicer towns on the Oregon coast than LC......

An aside........my grandparents had 30 grandkids and there was always a rotating mass of cousins passing through. When my grandfather got tired of riding herd on us he’d have my grandmother pack us a lunch and then he’d send us out in his Boston Whaler to “fish”. Unbeknownst to us (for the longest time) he would give us just enough gas to get to the center of the lake. We’d be stuck out there for hours, “fishing” and yakking. After awhile my grandfather would show up in his other boat, “fiddle” with the engine and then tow us home (Where he re-gassed the whaler on the sly). And we thought that Whaler’s old engine was simply a POS. Turns out the man was a genius. Free babysitting and he knew exactly where to find us.....
