It really is not the prerogative of straight white men to decide how others fight for their civil rights. Their permission is not needed.
sorry.....it's everyone's responsibility and has nothing to do with gender or sexual orientation....and it's not right that white men have all the power in the world...you're right about not needing their permission but I'm a straight white male who's very active in the civil rights cause.....and I' don't need anyone's permission to engage in it either..civil rights is designed to be inclusive...not segregated As a straight white male I claim no authority ...but I'm not going to be excluded from the conversation because of these things..there are plenty of straight white females who are extremely racist out there as well.. there are no doubt racists within the gay community also.....everyone is welcome in my form of protest so long as they are not racist or have bad intentions..we also should be careful not to be sexist toward any sexual orientation including straight males
I'm counting on Joe Biden to pass sweeping reforms for the cause and staff his cabinet with strong women...we should all support this whether Joe is white and straight or not
I am not saying everyone can't participate, they should. But the thread was initiated by a person who apparently believes he is the authority who can scold black people for not listening to him.
We’ve had 5 or 6 very peaceful, very successful BLM led marches and protests here in NE Portland. It can be done.
Caught me red handed, dammit. So, how did you find out that I once owned a brownish velvet leisure suit? I had the matching cowboy boots and tank top psychedelic shirts. Can't remember the pants but if I saw them again I'm sure I'd either laugh my ass off or run away embarrassed.
It's what I'm saying Lanny and I have great respect for crandc….she's a very important forum member and contributer in my view. When she pointed that out I gave her post a "like" to acknowledge that.
Why was my post telling this guy to fuck off deleted? It wasn't a personal insult. It wasn't against the rules.
I just saw a great quote that fits this thread perfectly when you’re so invested in your príviledge (white in this case), racial equality feels like oppression
Well said River. I could care less about color, race or religion or sexual preference we need to appreciate and respect people of all walks and culture.
I think it's weird that some people are more upset by the NBA allowing players to have those statements on their uniforms, then they are about what the statements are about.
I can hear the radio play-by-play already . . . Black Lives Matter passes it to I Can’t Breathe. He dribbles around a screen set by Respect Us, makes his move and takes Justice to the basket! Oh, man, he made Justice look bad. Now it’s Anti-Racist against Stand Up. He runs him over! Did you see that, Dave? Stand Up is on his back! Stand Up, Stand Up! Okay, we have a new player entering the game. I can’t see his jersey. Who is that, Dave? Say Their Names, Bob. That’s what I’m trying to do, Dave! What’s that guy’s name? Say Their Names. That’s what I’m trying to do, Bob! Can you give me a little help?
