I want Melo out there with what may be his last shot at a ring...he is playoff hungry and the clock is ticking...Nas is going to be better next season...Melo is a gold medalist for team USA...he shows up for the big games and I expect him to for this one.

Melo may want that last shot at that ring. But if he want to show up for the big games he need to play within his role and not try to play superstar. All he need to do is stand in the corner and knock down 3s while posting up a couple time a game. I can see Nas playing well especially next to Collins and Nurkic. I can see Nas becoming a solid rotation player that prove why we didn’t need to sign another player

Melo has been a solid starter, team player and he has some of the best footwork on the team....Nas is the future but he's raw....Nas will play...but Melo in my view is at the right place at the right time....he knows Lebron's game way better than Nas at this point...Melo just can't play 40 minutes a game...he'll need rest

Are you implying that Melo could guard leBron effectively?

I’m sure we’ll see Melo at the four with the second unit, which will open up minutes at three for someone else, hopefully Nas and not Mario. Nas could be the long term answer at the position if he keeps improving his shot. He’s got everything else; defense, rebounding, slashing. I bet his ballhandling is better than Moe/Aminu/Ariza’s as well.

Next to Zach and Nurk....yeah...defense by committee ..I'm implying Melo knows Lebron's tendencies since he was a kid....and he's a vocal floor general for our team...Dame has pointed this out..he doesn't have to guard him one on one but we're really big with him on the floor..Lebron can't shoot 3's over him as easily as Trent or Nas...I like those 3 on the court with fresh legs....Melo will not stay out there for extended minutes nor need to but he's proven he's not a liability as a Blazer that everyone wanted to project...and he rebounds well...Melo is going to feast on the screens Zach and Nurk can provide him with and Melo is a good passer.

I mean, what are the alternatives? No one else is gonna stop him. At least Melo knows his game inside and out, and gets up for those opportunities.

2 half-seasons after finishing high school, covering 25 months, Little is inevitably dumb and inexperienced. He has stupendous animalistic athleticism. He is coachable, unlike some similar players on other teams I've watched over the years. A year from now, we'll be very happy with him.

This summer, we'll only get tantalizing glimpses.

How is Melo harder to shoot over than Trent? Melo cant close space at all and it's easier to shoot over a 6'8 guy who's 4 feet away from you than a 6'5 guy who's a foot away from you. People think the taller players are automatically harder to shoot over just a big part of it is closing the space and being on the shooter when he shoots. Some of the best defense played on Lebron this season was done by Wesley Matthew's, who's just as undersized as Trent. Trent has the ability to body up on LeBron on the perimeter while being able to have a chance at staying in front. Melo could be 4 feet off LeBron, and still wouldn't have a chance. Why would LeBron even shoot over Melo when he'd basically have a free drive straight to the rim every time anyway? And yes we have good rim protectors, but you dont want them dealing with straight line drives every possession. Sounds like a plan to get Wenyen some PT before halftime due to foul trouble.

Our interior defense was fine all season. You know what sucked? Our 3pt and transition defense. Playing Melo at the 3 will make that even worse. It's a recipe for disaster. It makes no sense not to start Gary Trent Jr. at the 3.

Knowing LeBrons game doesnt mean he can stop it. Lebron is the player that has a wide array of moves that he can go to, and Melonis Winslow that he could know what's coming and still wouldn't have the quickness to stand a chance defensively. Melo was too slow to stick with mediocre PFs at the end of this season. Now hes going to guard LeBron since he knows him...?

Nobody stops Lebron. Even if they know what is coming.
Melo needs to play less minutes but can be effective in those minutes.

Bottom line- Blazers are not even in the playoffs at this point whether Carmelo Anthony wants a shot at a ring or not. They have a lot to worry about before even thinking about Lebron. They need to worry about Morant, Tatum, Harden, Murray, Kawhi, Simmons, Luka. Not sure? Is Kyrie gonna play?

I specified that it's Nurk Zach and Melo that will be the wall of defense on Lebron and Melo is a vocal floor coach...and has good footwork ...not one on one defense ...of course he's too slow for that...he also won't be banging in the post against 4s and 5s with Zach and Nurk on the court...big difference from playing next to Mario and Biggie that we saw at the end of the season....context
Melo put up good numbers with us on the fly.....and Nas isn't familiar with Lebron at all on that level....I'll stand by my assessment. Nas will play but I want Melo starting the first qtr and 3rd qtr of every game he can ....it's playoffs, not player development time...and the comment you made at the end there isn't related to my saying he knows his game....bit different from he knows him...Jamie Foxx knows him too....Melo grew up playing him. Nas grew up watching him...for what it's worth....Dame agrees with me on this

yeah...you're welcome to that opinion....Lebron will dominate a smaller guard in my view...Melo should start...Trent will get plenty of burn...Nas however should not start over Melo in my view. Melo's bb IQ is important come playoff time. I love the depth now at any rate..Trent will be our 6 man and be more involved in the offense off the bench where we need scoring

I think Collins/Whiteside/Nurk will be our 6th man. Whichever doesn't start.

Collins and Nurk are already going to start according to coach....I think the scorer off the bench will be the 6th man role, not the center but that's just how I see the role

There will be probably 6 man rotation in the front court Nurk Zach Whiteside Melo Trent and Mario or Nas. Melo will go around 6 minute mark about same time when CJ comes out and replacement will be Trent for CJ and Mario or Nas for Melo. Start of the 2nd Melo comes in for Zach and Whiteside comes in for Nurk. More likely Nurk will come out probably around the 4 or 5 minute mark in the 1st.

Isn't 6th man, just the first guy off the bench? I think with potentially limited minutes on Nurk, it will be Whiteside first off the bench.

Oh wait, you are saying you consider the 6th man to be the highest scorer off the bench basically? If so, I get it now. Still not sure that will be Trent though. We have some scorers on the bench too.

I have toy say, its so much nicer to start arguing(debating) about Blazers instead of Politics! :)
