    Ah the folly of youth!

To be sure: if I knew Lillard was unhappy and wanted to leave, I would be ecstatic with a trade that got us Ben Simmons (and happy for Lillard: I think the Sixers would be a real chance at a ring for him). But my view of Lillard, whose game I never liked (I'm a Rajon Rondo fan, which explains the Ben Simmons fanning - he's basically Rondo in a forward's body) has evolved in that he is now a franchise icon, and his off-court attributes are incredible. Plus that game of his suits the modern game better than Simmons's, apparently.

But beware starting the necro-ing of old threads, lest somebody get do it with yours. Is there any one among us who has not said something stupid? (Usually the ones who think they haven't are the worst offenders.)

I'm curious: would you still do this? Healthy Durant is a top 3 player, but he's not only been injured, his reputation has taken a few hits.

At this point, Durant is getting too long in the tooth to be worth trading Dame for. If it appeared that Dame’s window to build a title contender in Portland was closing, I’d be in favor of moving him to a team where he’d have a chance at a ring, but I’d want a young talent in return.

Not only no, but HELL NO! Why does this crap keep coming up. Dame gets better every year. Brings something new to his game, every year. I guess i just don't understand this kind of crap, and i find it offensive. I guess it's all part of the "Flavor of the month" culture that permeates through America. I believe in loyalty. I don't need another EXLAX phone because it's 1 second faster than the old model that came out last month. I want to see where Dame takes us. It's been a fun ride so far, and nothing says, it's anywhere near to being final. Dude is amazing! I want to win it all as much as anyone in here, and i'm willing to see Dame help make it happen. I DON'T DOUBT DAME. Some just can't "Leave well enough alone".:smiley-boxing:

One of the reasons I look dumb with this thread (other than the fact that I am, in fact, dumb), is that Dame has continued to improve in ways that many, perhaps most, NBA players don't. I keep expecting him to peak but he hasn't done it yet. Steve Nash is one of the few players that springs to mind who got better in the tail-end of his twenties and into his thirties, and he was sort of held back by injuries early on. Dame is fine wine. (Perhaps being with the same coach and same organization for so long is part of it.)

Well, the thread is very old. It got necro'd by someone re-posting the rumors that HoopsHype keep pushing that are based on nothing.

Wait, did you just say you've never liked Lillard's game?

No, it's just such a ridiculously weird thing to say. I'm shocked too. Strange.

Most of my misses are on things like draft prospects (you have yourself fair share Rasta - pretty much any Euro that doesnt pan out :D). That's different than not being a fan of Dame's game and vastly underrating him...

But even though you've never liked his game, thinking Simmons was better at any point was a bit ridiculous. Dame has always been noticeably better than Simmons.
