Interesting video about the differences between the right and left and the emotions involved. It sure does feel like there is an increasing divide. A mason-dixen line of sorts. Thoughts?
not trying to call you out. I just think this video ties in with what you are saying and this forum somewhat solidifies what they are saying. and i just want to state, its very possible to not like Trump or support him and still maintain republican ideals. As one of these people, ive felt too often lumped in with the “Evils“ Some of the things Trump haters have said in here has really enlightened me as to the increasing divide in politics as well as the decreasing ability to accept another’s differing opinion. I dont speak of anything racial. I speak of money, funding, ideals. It has very much felt here that if i dont agree with the full on liberal/socialist movement im part of the problem and evil. Little discussion, just condemnation.

Also. Not trying to and lets not make this about the forum. My thoughts were the public in general and was my intent of the OP. Then i read a thread that tied into this. So discuss? Thoughts? Are the people in the video delusion or do you agree with them and in wither case, why?

actually they do. Limited government(obviously detail oriented and dependent on specific topic of government at hand) More state and local control and less fed. control of domestic issues. Now im a liberal republican so im not on all the same lines as some republicans, but really. Its not about me. Its about the increasing divide and lack of ability to work together due to closed off communication based on strict labels pinned on anyone who disagrees with the pinner. This isnt about Trump. This is about the increasing divide and the hatred for the opposition that seems to be growing. Please stay on topic.
Well, you don't seem to even understand which teams are on the field. Republicans (the Republican party, that is) aren't for any of those things you listed. They used to say they were for those things, but the last three years have proven they don't actually care about them at all. barfo
To me those that are angry and taking no prisoners (regardless of party) are those on the xtreme. Because the issues are black and white in their opinion and you either agree with their way of thinking or you don't fit. The internet is the supercharger behind a lot of the polarization and hate. I personally think, there are many centrist or moderates that are willing to compromise and would be civil to sit down and discuss and give and take. If the extremist that are bent only on beating down the opposition and getting only their own way, out number the middle ground, centerist, moderates, independants, things will fall apart even more. It's going to be interesting to see what issues sway voters come November.
Sorry, but @barfo is 100% correct. The current GOP does not believe in limited government, or smaller government, or fiscal conservatism, or any oof those other things that they used to believe in. And that is why, yes, it is all about Trump. You seem to be the one who cant have a meaningful discussion if you fail to see this isn't the Bush or Reagan Republican Party. Not even close. Pretending that it is is a non-starter for any meaningful discussion.
I couldn't finish the first 4 minutes of the video as they tried to play the "enlightened ones" while calling people sheep. Not very enlightened of them I'm afraid. As far as the left and the right are concerned. Polls show that both sides actually agree on more issues than they disagree on. Their parties leaders pull at the strings that divide the two parties, to keep their supporters at odds. Divide and conquer. It keeps the people from getting together and agreeing that their leadership is screwing them over.
It was the North versus South during the Civil War, nowadays it's pretty much left & ne coast against the states in between.
did you, or him, watch the video? that would be the start in a meaningful discussion instead of turning the op into a republican ideals argument. So no i believe you to be incorrect, as the post wasn't up long enough for him to watch the half hour video. How can one have a meaningful discussion without watching a video the op posted to discuss? i rest my case...
yeah it is a right slanted show I'm sure, but take thier enlightened emo out of it and what they are saying fits for the most part. Not all of it but most, in my opinion. Ive found few videos from either side where they speak without seeming enlightened or right. So take it in stride. I agree with you about the politicians but at the same time each individual is responsible forctheir own emotions and thought process right? it looks like it, but it is hard to believe, we are sheep to this extent. I do believe internet and social media has destroyed many conversational opportunities in life. Is it tied into our instant, drive-thru life? abide by the headline regardless of what the article says or contradicts? what is driving the hatred that i see more and more on a daily basis simply for disagreeing on social service ideals?

I have a problem even with the news sources that I watch when they start implying that one party or the other is unintelligent, sheep, etc. . Talk like that is what keeps the two parties apart. And it also cancels out any message of: "Let's all get along". Besides as Albert Einstein said: True, each individual is responsible for their own emotions. But both sides are being told two separate stories by their media. Between the propaganda and fake news, it's no wonder neither party gets along. Which ties back to my belief that it is the party leaders that keep their supporters at odds with each other. People are taught hatred here in America from the time we are born. Hate the democrats, the republicans, people of color, other countries, and especially terrorists. Which, ironically, are always located in places that America has bombed the hell out of. If our parents didn't teach us hatred, our country had it covered for them. Sorry, I am probably being too literal here.
