This idiot is too dumb to realize that Pelosi or the most senior DEM member in the Senate would become de facto president in that case in January.

Constitution is clear. He's out Jan 20 at noon if there is no election.

    Not true.

She is up for reelection too so she would no longer be speaker.

Some are saying in this scenario it would be Pat Leahy.

It's this kind of talk that should upset 100% of Americans...my uneducated guess though is that it won't.

The Q2 earnings numbers are coming in for a lot of companies, and it doesn't look good. Record breaking drop in GDP. He needs to draw attention away from that.

Reading thru this, and trying to make sense of the 20th amendment, States are the ones that decide if elections are held or not, and the new Congress officially starts 2.5 weeks before the new Pres is inaugurated. So if Cali holds local elections, Nancy would already be elected by the time the new Pres is supposed to take over (jan 20).

So, it would actually be Nancy as pres. I think.

No, he knows he's going to have to take extreme measures to remain in office. That is very different. And very dangerous.

He wouldn't bring that up if he truly thought he was going to win

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Reminds me of an exchange from the (extremely underrated) NewsRadio that I always really liked, when one of the characters decides to run for President:

Dave: Sir, you know that I don't necessarily think you'd make a bad president, right? It's just that I think you'd be wiser to start out smaller.

Jimmy: Oh, come on, Dave. What am I going to do- run for prime minister of Cambodia and work my way up? No, that's not me.

Can the Senate delay the election without the House?
