What you rocking? Samsung S10+ for me. Wondering if I should trade it in for a Note 20 Ultra which came out today. Shit is expensive, I'll have to end up paying $750 total, but it future proofs me for the next 18 months I guess. Massive ass phone, 6.9" screen. Its a lot, but I think I'm at that point where I've used it long enough that the trade in value versus usage is at the tipping point.
On the Budget end of things, the Googles just released the Pixel 4a to compete against the Iphone SE. Price point around 350 which isn't bad.
I had a Sony. I liked it but the screen randomly cracked on me and I gave up on the brand. https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/glass-cracking-t2899480 Samsung has been very reliable for me overall.
I hate the idea of spending too much for phones. $1000 for a device that will be obsolete in three years once the software updates stop is nuts to me. And i usually just buy mine outright. I wanted to upgrade from my old huawei after trump put them on the shit list, so i bought the SE last week. Loved the smaller form factor and the speed with which i could switch apps and decent camera/video quality. I'm ok with switching to iOS, so no preference there. But I returned the iphone in 3 days. That tiny ass battery was a killer. I couldn't even get 4 hrs of screen on time with just basic use. My 3yr old huawei could easily last 2-3 days on one charge. Gonna wait a bit to see longer term reviews on the new pixel but it checks a lot of boxes into what im looking for.
Yeah, $1k is kind of a lot for a phone, but I'm on that shit like half the day so worth it. Also do work on the phone quite a bit. Heard the pixel 4a has a shit battery too. but pixels are pretty good.. i need to be able to have an SD card though Look at one plus. older model, the one plus 7 on discount.
I still have my Samsung 9+, I am waiting for the Pixel 5 to upgrade. I also have a Samsung smart watch and I am anxiously waiting for Google to announce a watch so I can upgrade that also. Bixby is so much crap it has pushed me out of the Samsung ecosystem completely.
I tried to make my Samsung watch obey Google assistant commands. Shit got too complicated though. Bixby blows. Wanna cop those Google Pixel 2 buds
This baller just bought a used Samsung A50 off of ebay for $159.99. I upgraded from a Samsung J7 Perx. I only switched phones because the storage space on the J7 was only 16GB. I was constantly getting that message that I was out of storage space. I got tired of uninstalling apps and deleting files. The A10 is 64GB. I used to buy more expensive phones, but realized after having to go with a budget phone last time I needed a new phone that my experience didn't really change at all with a cheaper model. If I was able to simply install any and all apps on an SD card I wouldn't have bothered upgrading, and would have just waited until the charging port broke to get a new phone like I usually do.
The pixel 4a has nearly 2x the battery capacity of the SE. Prolly not as optimized, but that size difference is something. Looked into oneplus, but won't be able to upgrade to the newest Android version with those, and durability on the cheaper models seems iffy. Needless to say, when did flagships start costing $700+? I used to have the Galaxy S3 and S5 back in the day and those were like $400. For my use, doesn't make sense to have all that computing power just to browse social and make phone calls.
IPhone 11 Switched from ATT to Comcast cell $12 mth 1 gig They gave me $250 rebate off $700 phone. Had it for 9 mths and live both phone and Comcast cell service. Saving a ton of money.
I used to be kind of a Samsung fanboy. I got the watch mostly because I wanted hands free communication functions while I walked. Bixby was a nightmare and never worked worth using. I was so pissed when I couldn't use google assistant on the watch. Samsungs insistance to force their horrible assistant and not give other options has turned me off on them big time, you can't even use google maps on the watch. I got pretty excited when google bought Fitbit also, and the Google phone camera is fantastic. Pixel prices best of all flagships. It's a no brainer for me, I just want the extra functions of the 5 over the 4a, it's only a few months away. Those earbuds look awesome! I am pretty happy with my airpods pro though. Great for work outs and walks. Apple got those right.
