Who was the greatest shooter in nba history? Personally I would take Bernard King.

I'd say Jerry West or Larry Bird. Reggie miller is up there.

Jerry West was a great scorer as was bird but no player had the perfection on offense that King had. The guy made more unlikely shots then MJ(if thats possible) and shot over .500 for nearly every season of his career despite being a primary jump shooter.

When you talk about the greatest shooters of all time, they need to be able to hit three pointers with consistency. King was a dynamite scorer but I don't think you can't put him as the best shooter of all time.Larry Bird is my candidate here. Despite forcing the defense to focus their perimiter defense towards him, Bird could still shoot a solid 50% from the field. Early in his career, Bird struggled from the NBA three. However, he eventually lengthened his range and became unbelievabely deadly from there as well.

If you want to consider % wise, you have to include John Stockton, who shot 51.5% from the field for his entire 19 year career as a PG.He had a knack for taking the shot when one was needed even if he was never a huge scorer but his career avg is 13.1 ppg so he shot it enough.Bird and West had to shoulder more responsibility being the focal points of their team and having defenses pay more attention to them than Stockton, thus making their accomplishments more impressive IMO.

Since I never really saw West, and I never saw too much of Bird (I have seen some), I'm going to go with what I know and choose Miller. He holds the all-time record for 3 pointers made. He could make it from anywhere on the court at any angle with any time left on the clock. He was just a great shooter.

I think a lot of people agree that Jerry West was an amazing shot creator and could hit shots from literally all angles on the court. I remember watching a special on NBA TV where he said he spent hours every day practicing EVERY imaginable shot and embedding the right power and arch into muscle memory. He wasn't a perfect hitter, but was extremely clutch (anybody remember seeing his 60-footer in highlight reels?). Now Reggie Miller was a great shooter too; arguably the best and the most clutch in the 90's. I don't know what to say about who was the better shooter, but they were both the best in their respective eras.

Steve Nash will be on that list soon. He already has a career averaged of 48% and has been shooting over 50% for about the last 4 years, all while going up each year. He is probably one of the greatest free throw shooters of all time with a career average of .896Not to mention Steve Nash is one of those players whos only job isnt too shoot, he has to distribute the ball. Meaning he isnt set up in open corners for shots. He does take shots with defenders in his face and drains them as well. I gaurantee by the end of his career he will be around 53-54% shooter.

Peja Stojakovic, Ray Allen, and Reggie Miller are mine. I don't think you can really choose Bird, Barry, or West because they didn't develop great three point ranges because they didn't need to.

Granted both played in the ABA, but they were still prolific shooters.

He isn't the best, but Mark Price should be somewhere on someone's list. He was the old school Kirk Hinrich, although he was a better scorer and more accurate/efficient from the perimeter.

Reggie Miller could hit a 3 pointer under any situation. Whether he had a man in his face, was heading out of bounds, or was off-balance, he could hit the shot, especially in the clutch. He holds the all-time career record for most 3-pointers made, and shot 40% over his career.

I would have to say Reggie Miller since in a lot of his clutch shooting situations he either had a man in his face or he had to shoot from a weird angle. Bernard King was a great shooter as well...I never got to see him play but after watching a video showing highlights from the Knicks history...I would have to say that he was a player that he scored at will. It's too bad that career ended short with the injury I saw as well on that tape and it didn't look pretty.
