after another night of nights for Lillard, take the wayback machine to draft night in 2012. I remember some people basically guaranteeing the Lillard was a wasted pick and going to be a bust. Myself, I just wasn't sure because I'd never seen him play. About 5 games into his rookie season I started thinking he was going to be pretty good

I’m saying we really need to re-sign Whiteside. He and Nurkic can become the best tandem centers in the league. This would be huge!! Would make me forget about Oden!

    well....maybe not

Melo was great. His best game of the bubble. Played great defense on Doncic late too.

I was sold one game into his rookie season. 23 points 11 assists in a win over the Lakers.

I apologize to everyone for off topic. But i must explain to US fans what means when somebody from Serbia speak about Bosnian player. 25 years ago, Serbia (and domestic serbians) attacked my and Nurkis'c country Bosnia, and killed thousands of people on most brutal ways, includind few genocides on few teritories, most known is Srebrenica genocide. Nurk is a patriot, huge patriot, and every day wore and speak something related to our country or remembering Srebrenica genocide. He remind the world on that on daily basis.

That is the reason why this Serbian guy doesnt like Nurk. Nothing related to basketball, trust me. He can reply whatever he want but this is true, he knows and i know that. I will not write anything additionaly on this subject, just once so that US fans are aware of some facts. Once again apologize for off topic.

I thought of that at first but he also said a good word for Hezonja which complicates things.

That kind of thing seems to almost never happen for the Blazers. Crazy bounce. When it falls their way it is so cool.

The conversation has been what they could have got for him. The way things are sitting now i agree. Probably best to keep him at this point. If he and Nurkic can coexist then they could become very tough to handle.

Well see the ball, when it reached its peak above the backboard, checked its watch and said “I know what time it is!”

Yes the serbians also bombed the Croatians in addition to the Bosnians. Forgive, but never forget was what I was told when visiting Croatia.

I remember many more people thinking that about CJ the folowing year as we already had a smallish scoring guard. IIRC, Dame was whom most people figured was going to be the Blazers pick.

sure...it was pretty obvious the Blazers were going with Dame. Chris Haynes and Jason Quick had both talked about how the Blazer scouting staff had been focused on Lillard for more than a year before that 2012 draft

but I had never seen Lillard play so I had some reservations. I didn't know his game.

lol wut? the general consensus here was that Dame was a great pick. Go back and look at our draft thread. There were a couple Harrison Barnes stans, but the LARGE majority was that Dame was the correct choice.

I was posting a lot more on RealGM at the time. They had a Blazer forum and a dedicated draft forum as well

and notice I said 'some people', not most people

I was against drafting Dame at the time. I just didn't believe a smallish PG from Weber State could be as good as he is.
