these are the 4 being considered http://www.basketball-reference.com/fc/pcm...e01&y4=1980I compaired them at age 33/32 because Gervin and Maravich retired at that age.I consider Havlicek more of a SF who played some Guard. Kinda like Jordan being a SG who played some SF.Gervin has a much higher scoring average, but I consider the way Miller lead the Pacers and had them as one of the top teams in the league for the a lot of the 90's and took them to thee finals. His intangibles (leadership, clutch shooting) were what put him ahead of the others IMO.

Michael Jordan, Pete Maravich, George Gervin, Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, Reggie Theus, Mitch Richmond, Reggie Miller, Clyde Drexler, Jerry West and John Havlicek are all in the conversation.

This is a list of only the top 5 best SG. Miller is in the conversation but he's not top 5. Maybe top 10.

Reggie Miller was a damn good player, but because he played forever and amassed such huge scoring numbers (25,000+ points), people think he's a top 5 guard. To put Reggie Miller ahead of guys like Reggie Theus for example, is laughable. I don't think Reggie Miller was that much better than Mitch Richmond.

Also he was a decent not great defender, I wouldn't say he was terrible.Reggie Theus was a first rate stat whore, who didn't play to win, but to be best he could be regardless of the team results. He was a well known 'chucker' I consider him Kobe Bryant lite :winkglasses: But, now that I reconsider, Reggie was a quick throw in and should be replaced.Hal Greer, Earl Monroe or George Gervin are better choices.Miller would still be a top ten choice though.

I didn't say Mitch Richmond was better, I just said Reggie Miller isn't that much better. Mitch Richmond is pretty underrated in discussions nowdays, if he's even mentioned. He was such a dominant offensive player, he was one of the hardest players to guard in the NBA, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen raved about him. It's not all his fault that he played on very poor teams in Sacramento when he was in his prime and couldn't show what he had in the playoffs.

oh I agree that he's underated and of course had bad luck being on bad or mediocre teams.I just think Reggie gets the nod due to his clutch performances in the playoffs.as you will note in my sig, I have Mitch on my all era team
