I really don't understand how this dude is suing him though. How does he think he's going to win?

If it had been a situation where this happened and both sides were like "you know what, it was a mistake, my bad, let's move on" that would be one thing, but these fuckers are doubling down. I really don't understand it.

It will be interesting to see if the deputy drops his case in light of the body cam footage coming to light. I have no idea how he thinks he has a shot at winning after this is seen by a jury. Ordinarily, you might say, "well, maybe something happened prior to the deputy shoving him", but looking at Ujiri at the beginning of the footage it's clear that he's not even aware of the deputy at that point. He should have had his credentials on, and the deputy was within his rights to insist on seeing them before letting him onto the court, but his actions in shoving Ujiri are totally out of line.

Apparently admitting fault mid-lawsuit is not something their own lawyers will allow.

Yeah, like, I could honestly understand kinda putting his hand on Ujiri's chest and being like "hey, I need to see ID" but that shove was out of line. Not once but TWICE! Like.... come on dude. You didn't even give him a chance to show you his ID.

I'm surprised he commented publicly in the midst of a legal battle.

No he did not forget. The cops in america (not all of them) but many think they are above the law and can do whatever they want. The fact that this "officer" did this to an "estimated" 100 people with his body camera on speaks to how confident police are that they wont face any consequences for their own criminality. And the fact that it took 1 year to release the video shows you how much this police department tried to protect his own criminal cop, but what can you expect from a department who retweeted "unintentionally" Richard Spenser on Twitter. Criminals protect criminals, thats the sad reality

I'm probably stretching here, but I'm seeing police culture in that video....the same police culture that is at the heart of months of protests. The belligerent, 'don't-tread-on-me-I-have-the-power-and-won't-be-held-accountable' attitude that has left so many cities reaching for various shades of defund-the-police tools as it seems the only tool they have to reign in the power of police & their unions

and this may be a stretch too, but when I watched that video, I got the impression that cop was focused on Ujiri when he was 30' away. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that cop knew exactly who Ujiri was before the incident

Yeah like i said not all americans are bad. But you probably know what prejudices we in Europe have about americans (fat, dumb, racists, arrogant etc.) Iraq war based on lies, and Trumps election clearly didn't help that we think different. But of course there are many positive thinks about america: sports, economy, citys, nature, etc

Raptor fans should send batteries to the Alameda County Sheriffs office.

For some of you this is a shock. For most of you you're finally get to getting to see it. For me I've known this my entire life. I was 15 the first time a police officer drew his firearm on me. For no other reason besides being black and playing in the park. I could have been a Portland version of Tamir rice. We're no longer asking you to give a shit... We are going to Simply demand police accountability and you'll see us in the streets until that happens...
