This is not like any small state court indictment, this is by the federal government. This is big time. Vick will be standing in a huge federal court house with judges, and layers, and prosecuters that will all be for convicting Vick. Not to mention all of the peace groups, and animal rights groups that will be for convicting Vick. Dog Fighting is a major felony; and Micheal Vick is in danger of being convicted. He won't be getting a slap on the hand, or a probation - most likely, he will be put in a federal penetentiary for some amount of time. Now, how should the NFL, or the public media react to this? Well, Micheal Vick is a NFL All star, a multi-time pro bowler - he is essentially the face of the Atlanta Falcons, and one of the biggest, and most famous celebrity athletes there is in sports. His RACE has NOTHING to do with this, but the fact that he's being indicted by the feds for a major felony has EVERYTHING to do with this situation. How should the NFL react to this? Well...speaking of the NFL and how they should react - we've got Tank Johnson, and Pac Man Jones who were suspended for their conduct, but they were not even convicted of any crimes. The NFL seeks to keep its image as clean as possible, and in order to do this, the NFL needs to show strict punishments for those under its name. Most likely, Vick will be convicted - and I would not be surprised if he is suspended before any charges or convictions are announced. Keep in mind, Vick was just resigned to the Falcons and is currently under a HUGE contract. He also was in his little marijuana cup issue. The NFL's only possible move would be to suspend him. and WHEN they do, we all know there will be a barage of complaints from African americans who think that this whole situation somehow had to do with the fact that Vick is black...Say Payton manning got into trouble - do you think white people would be calling into radio stations all over the US complaining about the fact that Manning is white, and THAT's why he is being treated so harshly? Absolutely not.Race is a big issue, but it doesn't have to be in every little problem we have with a black athlete.

Easily, it's the most culturally repressive and monochromatic professional sports environment in the U.S. (although the NBA is trying to catch up).The crackdown on touchdown celebrations for instance, is something clearly aimed at black players. Perhaps this has something to do with the off field rebellion trend that we've been seeing lately. I don't know.
