Should be (realistic) target #1 in free agency imo. Jerami Grant has taken on a larger role while Bol Bol should be in Denver’s rotation next year. Millsap is going on 36, so financially it should be a realistic objective. Plus shooter, spaces the floor, rebounds, defends, unselfish, great free throw shooter, great in the locker room. Just a very good overall fit for Portland.

He is exactly the kind of guy they need on the bench. Not Mario. Depth from aging veterans is very good to have.
Paul Millsap, F, Nuggets: I left Millsap off the first two iterations of our 2020 free agent power rankings due to the fact that he’ll turn 36 next February. But the more I see of him this season, the more I’m convinced he’ll still receive a nice payday on a two- or three-year deal this fall. His .440 3PT% is a career high and his impact on the Nuggets’ defense shouldn’t be overlooked. The club has a 102.2 defensive rating when Millsap plays, compared to 110.7 when he doesn’t.
millsap is one of the possible FA stretch 4's that might be added and would be an upgrade. i have advocated for him. as good a fit if he opp's out of his player option might be JaMychal Green, who signed with the clips for 2yr@$5 per.
Millsap would be a great addition, but he'll be a pretty sought-after free agent by contenders. The Warriors would love to have him, as would the Rockets, Lakers, etc. There's no way he'll go for a veteran's minimum...just about any contender would offer him the tax-payer's MLE at least. I'm not sure if there's a contender that can offer him the full MLE, but if there is, that'll be in play too.
Paul Millsap is $30 million of dead weight. Nuggets need to bench him to avoid getting bounced from NBA playoffs by Utah.
He has become largely unplayable in this series against Utah because he has lost a step and can't shoot well. I'd rather find someone more athletic and with a few more years left in the tank
