NBA might not let him play in game 5 if it is delayed should it eventually happen, as he is listed as out
Nah, coaches can change a player's status based upon medical advice. That said, Dame's knee isn't likely to be ready for basketball for weeks.
After boycotting for another four months, the season will again resume and the 2020 NBA champ will be crowned in 2021. The draft will happen two days later and the 2021 season will officially start two weeks later.
This is definitely a power move by the players, but I am curious if these are actually just "postponements" of the games and they end up playing. Hopefully, practical change/commitments to change can be made from this. This should have the owners attention, who have the money and influence to make change happen.
If they cancel the rest of the playoffs - we can say we played the Lakers to a draw as they were not able to eliminate us from the playoffs.
It will be interesting to see if NBA teams will hold the boycott beyond tonight. As more playoff games stand to be lost, not everyone (by which I mean, among the players) will be on board with ending the season. So how that gets navigated remains to be seen.
The team has been pretty tight-lipped as far as the severity of his sprain. According to the Harvard Health site: "How long a knee sprain lasts depends on the type of knee sprain, the severity of your injury, your rehabilitation program and the types of sports you play. In general, milder Grade I and Grade II MCL or LCL sprains heal within 2 to 4 weeks, but other types of knee sprains may take 4 to 12 months."
