That's a shame. It's not guaranteed that the other person will want to have the discussion you want to have, that's true. Especially if it's just a rehash of a long discussion you already had.
Gee, you get inside privy inside information to these types of exchanges? Oh, but of course you do! You're a mod. At any rate, glad you're always raised to the higher standards in here.
My guess is they're all being tested (maybe even more than once) and managed every single day. Kinda like NBA players.
are we allowed to discuss the different messaging by the two conventions particularly when the speakers were talking about the same subjects in this thread? (the common denominator being the messaging was so obviously audience specific) or should i start a separate thread about the subjects i wish to discuss?
Again...if you have a problem with a specific poster, take it up with them in PMs. Or hit up a moderator if you think it's actionable. We're trying to foster high-minded intellectual debate here!
That's fine. My original post was not meant to say that this thread has to stay absolutely laser focused on just what happened at the RNC--just that I don't want this thread also sidetracked into dissertations on the flaws or strengths of a specific poster.
Trump probably already feels like he lost the most important election--the ratings election. Hopefully he tries to win back the ratings war by saying even wilder and ridiculous things. Drinking disinfectant was just the start...
i am beginning to wonder if the time spent debating issues in this country hasn't become a complete waste of time until after the coming election and the defeated agendas might be reflected upon in order to discern why the public chose whom.
For the conventions? Why is it too early? I was simply making a joke about the ratings for the conventions, since they're kind of the Super Bowl of TV/media events in the campaign.
I think you may be right. Everyone's pretty hardened in their positions--while this is a long-term trend, people becoming more and more polarized, this election in particular I think has left a very very small group of truly undecideds (among people who care at all). Until one side "loses," forcing something of a reckoning, there's not much room to move. But! There's still all the memes and jokes in the meantime.
right. unfortunately the Romney defeat, the "autopsy" and the proposed need for voter outreach was proven wrong during the last presidential cycle. anything short of a decisive, uncontestable outcome/mandate will likely lead to the same in the losing party.
Yeah, there's some truth to that. Republicans have a bit of an out when it comes to really looking at changing themselves, and that's the fact that the way the Electoral College, Senate and House work gives them a small but consistent advantage that has, to this point, prevented total electoral apocalypses for them. Democrats have to be a little more responsive to big losses, but they have their own edge in raw numbers--there are simply more total Democrats than Republicans. Their "out" is that creating greater voter turnout will do more for them than triangulating to the center.
