I accept that you have a pretty good knowledge of the CBA. But I’ve been around more than long enough on message boards to know that everyone gets things wrong from time to time. If you can share something from the CBA that’s a problem with the deal I outlined, I am more than happy to learn from you. Otherwise, screw your attitude.

Yeah, that would work if it were done after the new nba year starts and if both Rio (who probably won't) and Hood (who obviously will) opt in. Ariza and Hood are in my opinion worth more than LaMarcus, Rio is trash but I just said earlier if I had to choose between starting Ariza at the 4 and starting LA, I'd choose Ariza. His defense is just way better and he can shoot the three. Aldridge can't move well enough anymore to cover the perimeter, he is now a 5 that can shoot the ball from just about anywhere but him and Nurk on the floor together defensively is a nightmare. With how far off the season is going to be I think Hood is going to be a real contributor to this team next season. So yeah, I don't think LaMarcus is worth that and I don't think Rio opts in, I think he'll play in Europe for more money but who knows. If Rio is gone then you have to add Nas or Ant to the trade and that's even more value going San Antonio's way. I don't think this trade works but who knows maybe Neil will like it and we'll find out how LaMarcus and Nurk play together.

Yeah, I deleted that post, because I was looking at it wrong. I was looking at it from a pre-draft trade in which Aldridge is now making 26, Hood is making less and what the fuck ever... I was just not thinking after the draft but it does obviously work after the draft if both guys opt in and we don't opt out of Ariza.

Early vaccinations? Are we actually going to have a vaccine?

I do have a question on this one... if you've already said that you like Trevor better than LaMarcus, why the fuck would we now be adding a first rounder to sweeten the deal for San Antonio? You and I already didn't want to give up Ariza for LA let alone Ariza and Hood (I happen to think Hood will be ready to contribute meaningfully by mid-season because of how far off that likely is) but Ariza, Hood and a first, no fucking way... I mean if that happens I will be talking so much shit about Olshey on here daily that everyone will mute me.

Yeah I'm wrong all the time but appreciate if someone tells me why with facts, not attitude nor ego.

Only thing I saw you post wrong was player doing sign and trade for more years as opposed to signing as a free agent. That was removed as a benefit of a player doing sign and trade. Players only get additional year by staying with their prior team.

Can we all agree if Hood gonna be our starting SF next year we still won’t be a legit contender? I love Hood but if he’s a starting SF coming back from a bad injury then your team probably don’t have any other wing to play. Trent filled in admirably but he’s a SG. Ariza is a big question mark for many reasons. Can little emerge as a legit player?

I don't think Ariza is a question mark. Call me crazy but I just don't think that some seemingly baseless accusation that isn't even in a criminal dispute but in a civil one is going to get anyone suspended. If you're implying that Ariza won't want to play, I think that's off base too. If we don't make any major moves we'll start the season with Ariza as our starting SF, Little backing him up or Gary backing up both CJ and Ariza, and then by mid-season I think Hoodie will be a meaningful contributor off of the bench on the wing.

Trent didn't play SG in the bubble, we had Simon's or hezonja fill in other guard spot when Dame or CJ sat. I do think we need a bigger defensive SF option but trent can fill part of that role and fill it entirely against certain opponents. I'd most want a two way SF/PF of any position but that's the rarest NBA position.

Lamarcus is simply not a good player, there's a reason the Spurs looked so good without him. His defense is just so bad, he is the last thing we need

Sorry, but I don't understand your logic. The best player the Blazers give up is Ariza. None of the others listed made a meaningful contribution this season.

If you would rather keep Ariza over Aldridge, that I can understand.

Yeah I have skepticism acquiring aldridge would improve us. His ego, entitlement to minutes role touches, the change in the NBA away from bigs, our team more urgent needs of wing defense.

On the one hand I'd be excited of the chance to see it a few games and hope it could work well. On the other Im expecting it to fail. Not sure what the odds are of each.

I guess the real question is does Neil and or Dame like the idea? If so maybe they try to make this move.

Getting an over the hill player, flat footed, with an outdated playing style sounds like something the Blazers would DEFINITELY do. It's a step backwards. NO should have Miami games on 24 7 to see how you make a team, Boston too.

If Aldridge is to come back, you wait till he is a free agent next summer and bring him back on the cheap. You don't pay him $24 million. He isn't worth that.

Its better to judge it by the opportunity cost. One year salary doesn't matter if there's no opportunity cost. Is Ariza going to play well next year? If not I would rather have Aldridge than nothing. Id rather have Aldridge for one year than Whiteside on a multi year deal.

Is there luxury tax issues with adding Aldridge? Could we acquire a more useful player for Ariza than Aldridge? Depending on those answers maybe an Aldridge trade could happen. I'd prefer a better upgrade than Aldridge if possible. If not possible and no downside I might prefer Aldridge/Collins bigs to just Collins.

Over on Spurstalk, they seem to think they can do away with Aldridge for our pick and salary fillers.

Unfortunately, all our salary fillers are quite vital to our success moving forward. And I want to keep them around to move in subsequent trade deadline moves. But the Whiteside S&T is an obvious one.

I don't really care for getting Aldridge back. We have all bigs and guards, and desperately need two way wings. But if all it took was our draft pick, then I'd prolly do it. Pay him for a year, and then re-work him for a MLE type deal to finish his career next year.

    Not interested in Aldridge

Now Popovich would be cool. I mean he owns a winery here and CJ seems yo be liking the wine. Come on Pop. Come coach here in Portland for a couple years.

Yeah Pop would be awesome for a few years here. Makes more sense for him to build a Dame contender than rebuild SAS.

Neil would have to fire Stotts first though.

Next season won't start till close to mid January probably at the earliest. Hood will be recovered by then. It might till mid season for Hood to play like his old self again, but hopefully not.
