No. 16 Mich St tops No. 19 Ohio St 80-69, shares B10 title

Cassius Winston kissed Michigan State's logo in the middle of its basketball court, following the school's quarter-century long tradition toward the end of his last game at the Breslin Center.

The senior scored 27 points to help the 16th-ranked Spartans beat No. 19 Ohio State 80-69 on Sunday to win a third straight Big Ten championship.

No. 9 Maryland tops No. 25 Michigan 83-70

Each member of the Maryland basketball team took turns gripping the trophy awarded to the Big Ten Conference champions. They wore bright red hats boasting their accomplishment, and they proudly cut down the nets on each side of the court.

It really didn't matter to coach Mark Turgeon or the No. 9 Terrapins that their 83-70 victory over 25th-ranked Michigan on Sunday was good for only a share of the regular-season title. After more than four months' worth of exhilarating wins and bitterly disappointing defeats, the robust celebration -- which served as a welcome release of emotion -- came without apology.

Penn State coach Pat Chambers resigns after investigation

Pat Chambers resigned as Penn State’s basketball coach Wednesday following an internal investigation by the school into allegations of inappropriate conduct.

Chambers, 49, had been at Penn State for nine years and was coming off the team’s best season under his directions.

Penn State athletic director Sandy Barbour said during a press news conference that she would not disclose details of the school’s investigation, but did say NCAA matters were not part of the investigation.

Reuvers Leads No. 7 Wisconsin Past Eastern Illinois, 77-67

Eastern Illinois' Jordan Skipper-Brown (2) shoots against Wisconsin's Ben
Carlson (20) during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game
Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, in Madison, Wis.

Wisconsin big man Nate Reuvers posed all sorts of problems for Eastern Illinois, which had no way to replicate him in practice.

Panthers coach Jay Spoonhour doesn’t exactly have a roster full of 6-foot-11 players who can score inside and out, rebound and block shots.

Reuvers did all three Wednesday night as the seventh-ranked Badgers began their season with a 77-67 victory over Eastern Illinois. The senior scored 18 points, finishing 2 of 3 on 3-pointers, and grabbed nine rebounds to go with five blocks.

Omouryi Has Big Debut, No. 24 Rutgers Beats Sacred Heart

Rutgers guard Ron Harper Jr. (24) dunks over Sacred Heart forward Matas Spokas
    (23) during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, in Piscataway, N.J

No. 24 Rutgers opened up its most anticipated season in decades without its sixth man.

While Rutgers will be without junior swingman Caleb McConnell, who will take a medical redshirt because of a back problem, it was the missing fans that were more jarring. With the Scarlet Knights ranked in the AP preseason poll for the first in 41 years, the buzz that would have been around the Rutgers Athletic Center was missing.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 150 people were allowed in the 8,000-seat venue that saw 10-consecutive sellouts last season as Rutgers rose in the Big Ten and Top 25 rankings.

Nonetheless, freshman center Cliff Omouryi had 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting and added 11 rebounds to help Rutgers beat Sacred Heart 86-63 on Wednesday night in their opener.

Nearly perfect Garza scores 41, No. 5 Iowa routs Southern

Luka Garza expects perfection every time he shoots.

The Iowa center came close to that in the fifth-ranked Hawkeyes’ 103-76 win over Southern on Friday.

Bell (3) and Shaun Doss, right, during the first half of an NCAA college basketball

    .

Seventh-ranked Wisconsin was too tall – and too everything else – for outmanned Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Micah Potter scored 19 points and D’Mitrik Trice added 15 as Wisconsin used its size advantage to overwhelm the Golden Lions 92-58 in a non-conference game on Friday night.
