Yeah CJ makes no sense for them without Giannis. And it's not that his contract is over soon. if they trade Giannis CJ is in only for matching salary purposes and not a major piece in the trade. George was traded to rebuild 2 times, Davis was traded to rebuild as well. Only Spurs were too stubborn to realise and took nothing of longterm value back for Kawhi.

Cannot we beat that if it has any chance to be true?

Zach/Ant+2 1sts (this year and a few seasons later) would be good + Ariza to match salaries

Yeah @LayneStaley was talking about a bigger trade in another thread to get Giannis here that made more sense for the Bucks. I think it was like CJ, Nurk, Zach, Gary and a few first rounders. Now that might make sense to both teams because in order to make the salaries work it would have to be Giannis, Brook Lopez and George Hill coming back. That would likely work for the Bucks because they get to both keep winning now because CJ and Nurk are immediate contributors to go with guys like Middleton and Bledsoe which does make CJ a valuable piece for them and they get pieces with promise for the future in Zach, Gary and the picks (Nurk is kind of in between because he can for sure contribute now and has huge upside). They would be gambling a little that Giannis wouldn't re-sign here and those picks would be worth a lot more. For us, I think we would have to spend the full MLE to get a starting SG, we would need to hope that Hood would be ready to give us minutes off the bench, hope that so many in here are right and Melo will re-sign with us for 125% of the vet min (non-bird exception), re-sign Wenyen and hope that him, Nas and even Ant can give us some production, maybe even say fuck the luxury tax and re-sign Hassan and pick up some ring chasing contributors for the vet min to fill out the roster. Rotation would be like Dame, MLE SG, Ariza, Giannis, BroLo, Melo, Hill, Hood, Hassan, and the rest of the guys would either have to earn rotation minutes or play spot minutes.

That trade doesn't match salary and it's obviously bullshit. "Scoop B" has never broken anything. And why in the world would we give up all that for Jrue to be our bench guard?

He should be a starter next to Dame since he is better than CJ and a better fit next to Dame with his D. Trade CJ after that to get a forward or more depth.

I don't believe in Ant+Zach+16th 2020+for example 1st pick 2023 being much as well for a player like Jrue.

Not sure how it gets through. Can we take +20.8M? this site is broken

    Dame
    Jrue
    Richardson
    Harris
    Nurkic

    Trent
    Hood
    Little
    Gabriel

and we need a back pg and a big with the MLE

if this doesn't work we don't get JRich but Milton or Thybulle and Hood slides in at starting SF

Trade proposals where the other teams make themselves worse to allow the Blazers to get better are always fun.

Salaries don't match. You don't need a trade machine, it's quite obvious that would never work in real life.

So here's the question... does LAC try to move PG to see if they can take advantage of one more year of Kawhi?

And does Dame even want to play with that guy?

I don't know if I would want him. He is a great tallent but he is kind of a bone head and he seems to disappear at the worst times.

Yeah..... I don't know though.... this lineup would be pretty damn good.

    Dame
    Trent
    PG
    Collins
    Nurk

Honestly, I'd rather find a better power forward though. I think Collins is a PF/C hybrid who can come off the bench. I think that's his best role. I don't think he contributes enough on offense.

If we can get Paul George for CJ, I would take that deal and run before they say no. He's mentally a bit unstable, but with Dame taking on the leadership/alpha role, he'd be ridiculous here.

But some of the shit that went down this bubble run probably burned bridges between Dame/PG.

That's like saying "why would the Spurs want Ginobili just to be their bench guard"?

Dame has said repeatedly that Jrue Holiday is the best wing defender in the NBA bar none. I would LOVE for us to get him, and we could play a three guard lineup (just like the Thunder this season) no problem.

Like he was with the Thunder?

Um, I think that bridge was burned a while before that:

Suppose it were a choice between getting Paul George and getting Jrue Holiday - I'd say get Holiday.

In fact, the Pelicans and the Clips should just swap players. Holiday would've shut down Jamal Murray.

PG isn't going anywhere, is in LA long term.
Id rather have Butler over PG any day.

I think CJ could be their point guard if he was forced into it. He has played reasonably well as the only playmaker. I don't really care for him as point guard, but maybe we could sell someone else on it? I think George and Kawhi were too similar to work together.

George averaged 28/8/4 on good percentages, with elite defense his last year in OKC. He was #3 in MVP voting that year.

Wonder if the Clips are pondering a Westbrook-George trade...

Butler isn't going anywhere. He got them to the ECF. We missed the boat on that one. Probably could have had him last year.
