All it tells me, as a Clipper, is I was able to get in his head.

I do too, but this looks like Dame let them get to him.

Not sure if this was already discussed but ouch.....

"Any discussion about the Clippers' situation must be prefaced with an explanation of those stakes. LA traded a potential franchise cornerstone in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and unprotected first-round picks in 2022, 2024, and 2026 (plus pick swaps in 2023 and 2025) to the Oklahoma City Thunder for the ability to compete for titles with George and Leonard right now. The Clippers traded away their 2020 first-round pick for soon-to-be free agent Marcus Morris Sr.

I guess they can spin it as Kawhi would not have gone to the Clips without George, but Kawhi IMO is the one who fucked up. If he really wanted to play in LA with the Clips, he should have let them keep Shai and all those picks. In the long run, they would have been much better off.

Regardless, it's gonna be an interesting WCF on this board: @THE HCP 's Lakers vs. @AldoTrapani 's Nuggets. LET'S GO!

this makes no sense to me

why should Dame play off the ball? Who else is going to run the offense?...and don't give me that evan turner stuff. LOL I'm getting worked up here because that's what teams have done to incredible success: take the ball out of Dame's hand and make the other Blazers beat them. And the result has been over and over that those other Blazers can't beat them. That's what opponents want: Dame without the ball in his hands

That's why the 4-28 record in close-out series under Stotts. And why the 1-16 record over the last 4 seasons. That's how good Portland is when Dame is "off the ball". This is not an X's and O's issue. Portland is not going to scheme their way into contention with somebody like Evan Turner or CJ running the offense. That's loony tunes. And thinking that if Dame could just learn how to shoot spot-up after curling around a screen in the remedial offensive system Stotts runs, somehow Portland would start beating elite teams is even more loony

by the way, if reality means anything, Dame was better this season in spot-up than CJ. Dame scored 1.19 points/possession while CJ 1.18. Dame was also better in hand-off possessions than CJ, 1.09 ppp vs 1.00 ppp. Cj was better off-screens, 1.08 vs 1.02. Doesn't look to me like Dame is doing so bad off ball

on the other hand, Dame is in the 87th percentile in isolation, outscoring CJ 1.07 vs 0.88 (56th percentile). And Dame was elite as the PnR ball-handler ranking in the 96th percentile and outscoring CJ, 1.15 vs 0.93

so yeah, it could be that a starting Blazer guard needs to learn better how to play off the ball, but it isn't Dame

Portland's problem is not Dame. It's that they have no other high level talent. Simple equation that Olshey hasn't solved in 8 years on the job

Funny dudes on here taking jabs at Damian Lillard and Praising Murray when Jokic got a triple double last night.
You tell me the last time dame played with a center who got a triple double? I believe it was a 20 point win against the Cavs? The Triple was a 10-10-10 game.
Last night Jokic posted 16-22-13. Yeah brother 22 rebounds and 13 assists with 16 points.

Well, when Mike Malone had Nurk... he STILL ran the offense through Jokic.

There are very few centers these days that you can do that with.....and Nurk is not one of them. When Nurk tries to do too much, it is not pretty.
It was an annoying embellishment when the TV announcers kept saying that Jokic is the best passing center ever in the history of the NBA....but I will admit he is pretty damn good. Plus he can handle the ball, plus he can shoot from the outside. All things IMO that are needed for someone to possess in order to run your offense through.

I am not dissing Nurk here, but players need to know their limitations. His skills are above average for a center, but IMO he is just not good enough to run your offense through on a consistent basis. What he needs is an offseason so he can build his muscle back up after being out for a year. We need a version of the Bosnian Beast. (But not too heavy)

HCP's feelings are hurt when we give credit to other teams or players.
