I think the Bell in Pitt discussion again kind of proves the Barkley point. First they drafted Bell in the 2nd round, not # 2 overall. And second, once he was due a big deal what did Pitt do - they let him walk. Again not worth picking a RB that high, or paying him that much.

And agreed, good to be having great football banter.

Sadly Chuck looks at asshole draft boards who know nothing about scouting. PFF which is the first one you look at had Thomas first. Ourlads had him second. Every other board is done by losers who know jack shit about scouting players. Thomas a stud and looks it. Agree with Prod that no RB in the game would do crap with Sequon's lines. Other than Sanders, Barkley is the only RB I've seen in my life that could have had over 2,000 total yards with that shit line. That being said DE Chubb who people wanted missed almost all of last year. He got hurt. Nelson is an all pro guard but he's a guard which I'm not taking that high. Gettleman has had some bad luck. If Engram or Shepard had been healthy, I think Gettleman would have dealt them already for picks. He nailed FA this year. Martinez looks great as does Bradberry. Bringing in Fackrell and getting Golden were smart moves. If dipshit Engram can stay healthy and do something there are pieces to be moved for picks.

They are going in the right direction. I would like them to get some extra picks and build a more power footbal, ball control team. While you can still use Barkley as a major weapon they need to add a Bavaro type TE, a couple of speed WR's to stretch the field and have a huge, strong, RB that can back up Sequon and thatq they can use if the other team is selling out to stop the run to move the chains. Chuck's opinion on Gettleman is worth shit. Every single part of this team sucked dick when Gettleman took it over thanks to clueless Reese who had no ability to draft.

You can knock me all you want, I know that's your thing, but the results speak for themselves:

His record as Giants GM is horrendous - 5-11, 4-12, and heading for another 3-5 win season this year.
Awful trade for Williams - why give up a 3rd for a guy who was free at the end of the season. Williams is now the highest paid player on the team.
Taking a RB at # 2 was the wrong move (Barkley has had whatever seasons in 2 of his 3 NFL seasons).
Hiring Shurmur was a terrible move.
Fixing the OL and adding hog mollies was the most important thing to him - 3 years later the OL is still awful.
Trades up to draft red flagged Baker - real smart.
Drafts an OT in the first round last year, smart, but why not trade down a bit when all 4 of the top OT were rated in the same range.
Drafts Jones at # 6, over-valued. Again why not trade down a bit and take him. As mentioned I will give him a pass on this one if Jones becomes a franchise QB.

So you can spin your BS all you want, but that's the cold hard reality of the situation. They are going in the right direction based on what - your dreams. Give me a break on that. Maybe they will be good eventually, but right now there is nothing showing you/us they are going in the right direction, outside of your dreams.

He has been a disaster as the Giants GM. That's all there is to it.

Chuck just hates Gettleman. He doesn't want to accept the fact that this team sucked in every area when he took over. Only two things would like Gettleman to do better is one, acquire extra picks, two, be more aggressive getting rid of players like Engram who don't fit this QB. He holds onto guys too long.

I think, Mark Ingram who is a ten year veteran, and his protégé JK Dobbins are worth your interest this season. Edwards is also another good running back. Baltimore has the right personnel and plan. Last year's demolition of the Jets at M&T stadium was a sight to behold.

Please. You can find running backs all over the draft. They don't have the talent of Sequon but running backs for the most part all look great with a good OL. That's what made Sequon special. He put up 2,000 yards when he was healthy with one of the worst offensive lines in Giants history. With this Sequon deal they need to pick up a couple extra 3rd and 4th rounders and take a RB or two. Build up better depth at that position.

If I have to hear one more dumb media fuck talk about Jones turnovers. Please. He's played 14 NFL games. For about 12 of them he's had no running game. 14 games an OL that hasn't matured yet. A defense for 14 games that he thinks will make him have to score 30 plus points. His TE for almost no games. His most reliable receiver for probably about 8 healthy games. A bad coaching staff for 12 games. You think that this guy is going to go out there where he has to try and win every game throwing the football with a below average OL, a few offensive weapons with a defense he can't trust and not turn it over? So I guess he's suppose to dink and dunk like D'Arnold, not turn it over, put up shit numbers and go 3 and out all the time. I swear, I don't know how these retards are allowed to cover sports all the time.

Stop being a condescending bitch which is what you always are. Simply stating that when you have no running game, a below average offensive line, very few weapons and you have to score 30 points pretty much all by your arm because your defense sucks, you have to be aggressive and constantly try to make plays. Of course, you probably never played any sport on a high level in your life. More likely you sat on the couch eating nachos.

If the GM is doing such a good job, how the heck does Jones have such a disaster around him? I mean pretty much all the things you are stating, which for the record I agree with, are a huge indictment on a GM who has been on the job for 3 years now.

I'm sure you'll come back with your usual name calling, so nothing new there, but in this case I am actually agreeing with you. And in agreeing with you it clearly calls out how terrible the 3 year GM has been here. Let me guess, he inherited a disaster. In 3 years his teams have been TERRIBLE, and are still a disaster in many places, as you yourself called out, but yeah Gettleman is doing a good job. You really can't have it both ways on this one.

Jones - going to be very good IMO. GM - has been awful.

If you dislike the Saquan pick you're entitled to your opinion Chuck but please stop dancing with glee because you believe your theory of never drafting rbs early has been proven with his injury. It also means that you go along with those same experts and draft Darnold instead, because that was the alternative. Boomer said it best regarding Saquan - he needs to stop going airborne and start putting his head down and running people over. I'm not sure what to make of the Giants but Reese wasn't taking them in the right direction either and his gut feeling picks killed the Giants. DG picked 16 players his first 2 years 10 are starting, suggests he inherited a shitty team.

On one hand you have fucking Jets fans complaining all day that all their QB does is dink and dunk, never throws the ball down field and goes 3 and out all the time. Now we have Giants fans complaining that their QB who has no running game either is fearless in the pocket, throws the ball down the field all the time, stays in the pocket and is willing to get hit all the time to make plays. I remember pretty much all Giants fans bitching about Eli never wanting to take a hit the last 7 to 8 years and just turtling. In short, NY fans are never fucking happy unless they win a title. When the Giants build a better team around Jones, his turnovers will go away. Put him on the Chiefs or Ravens and he would be throwing 35 TD's a year with about 7 picks and less than 7 fumbles. That's because those teams don't suck. Give it a little more time and the Giants will put it together. The Jets on the other hand are probably fucked.

As far as Sequon goes he was the right pick. What Chuck's limited brain doesn't realize is Gettleman realized his only dynamic play maker Odell was a retard. He signed him which actually made him easier to trade and prayed he would grow up. When he didn't he dumped him. He had to get the team a playmaker. He wasn't impressed with the QB's in the class. If you put Lamar Jackson on the Giants he would suck and I'm pretty sure he would be hurt already. Same with Allen. Shit happens. Sequon's story is far from over. This line will continue to grow. I hope Gettleman trades Zeitler for a good return and plays Peart and Lemieux after their record sucks which should be soon. Then the line can grow as a young unit. They still have lots of work to do but it's moving in the right position. Especially when McKinney gets back on the field. He's a beast. When the line gets better, Sequon will flourish. However, they definitely need some extra picks and to draft a bruising RB to give Sequon some relief. As well as protect the RB unit with depth.

Let us not forget Chuck was the dipshit who wanted the Rangers to trade their first and second round picks every year and when it didn't work and left the team in shambles, he vanished like a pussy and changed his handle to try and hide. It's funny now that he supports the Rangers rebuilding and doing the exact opposite of what he preached for years but he won't acknowledge that the Giants are going through the same thing.

Drafting a RB 2nd is not a good move. I don't care about his injury, that is the case either way. It is about positional value. His injury just hammers it home even more because RB's take a beating, hence most of their careers are done and shot by 30. He had a down year last year, he is missing 14 + games this year, and even if he comes back great, which I expect he will actually, it still is not smart to take a RB # 2. You can get good RB's all over the draft, and that is proven year after year.

As for the Rangers trading away their picks, and I am sure this will go above your pea brain, they actually did 10000000000000000% the right thing. Let's look at it. They had a window open for years, they made many long runs, they got close to a SC, and then SMARTLY once they started to trend down Gorton immediately pulled the plug BEFORE their players lost their value, and then restocked their system in 2 years. Now they head into next season as a legit playoff team, and soon a legit SC team after 3 or 4 years. To me that proves Sather/Gorton played it exactly right. Go all in to win, okay didn't fully work, but pull the plug early enough to recoup many picks. And yes they got some good breaks with the # 2 and # 1 picks in back to back years, but you need that luck sometimes to help move things along. So yeah Sather/Gorton played it perfectly, and kudos to them for an amazing strategy.

A portion of the 6 or 7 posters on here are so lost sometimes it is really comical. You have one guy who says stop getting on Jones because he has sh*t around him. And at the same time he says oh the GM of 3 years has done a really good job, and deserves to be here. That makes no sense. Those are 100% opposing viewpoints, but the mental midget doesn't get that. Same guy says oh what a terrible job dealing all our picks to actually win a cup. But he is too lost to understand that given how quickly the system has been restocked it proves the way the Rangers played their open window was spot on. Another guy who cannot comprehend things enough to understand the fact that Barkley got hurt this year has about 1% to do with proving the downside of drafting a RB # 2. Even if he was great, it is still not smart to take a RB # 2. The fact that 2 of his 3 seasons have been below average/poor, is simply more fuel on the fire, but even if he was great like he was his rookie year, the fire was already burning by taking a RB # 2 to start with. And I expect him to be great when he returns next season, and it will still not be smart to pick a RB # 2.

Project much?? Hahaha ! Also, you may want to familiarize yourself with what 'condescending' actually means...see...THAT is condescending. What I was being before (and normally am) is facetious. You are the condescending shitbag here. Understand what condescending means and re-read EVERY SINGLE ONE of your posts and it may surprise you.
But back to your boyfriend Daniel Jones...there are plenty of other QBs currently in the league and through history that have been in the exact same situation that he is with a horrible supporting cast who don't/didn't turn the ball over twice a game. No big deal though, he is young and there are HOF QBs who started out worse than he did. But like you pointed out, Gettelman has a TON of work to do to make this team a contender. Considering how GMs have a pretty short shelf life in the NFL unless the quickly build a winner, he has to act fast and make few mistakes.

The only trade i would probably want a mulligan on would be the Eric Staal deal. Otherwise i thought the MSL and Yandle trades were productive for where we were at the time. The trade i never got and looks really bad now is Graves to Colorado. Always wanted him to get called up but they just never did.

Sorry, all those trades sacrificing the future were a colossal failure because they didn't win shit and thus set the organization back years. Go for it now moves are useless if you can't win a title which is why you do those moves. Yandle was terrible. One of the worst defensive defenseman we ever had. St. Louis played great the one year but they gave up way too freakin much for an old player who was forcing his way here. The Clowe trade was a disgrace. The Nash trade was a disgrace. I liked it at first but it was a total failure. Although Gorton unscrewed that one. The Tim Erixon trade was a joke.

Just panic moves from a team desperate to win a cup.

You simply can't give up first rounders unless you are acquiring a young, top end player you can lock up. It's just dumb. Even if you can win a title, it will set you back years. Lightning could have had two first rounders this year but they traded them for Coleman and Goodrow. I find it hard to believe that they couldn't have gotten two similar players without giving up a first rounder for role guys. Panic moves.
