I don't know about you guys, but this bothers me more than anything else. Sure, Lakers fans drive me nuts with their Kobe bullsh**, as do many other people with many other teams and players. But the thing that drives me nuts is when people overrate MY players. I can't stand when people are like oh yeah Dirk is so great and so is Howard and Harris kicks butt blah blah blah on and on. I do my best to stay humble with my team. They're obviously pretty good, but they have their apparently flaws. The thing that brings this up (and partly the reason why this isn't in a basketball related forum) is that this guy was claiming that Texas A&M's football team is going to be 11-1 this coming season. Now listen, I love going to A&M. I love it because it's where I chose to be and it's where I belong. Thusly, I love Aggie sports. The problem is that this guy just doesn't get how mediocre our football team is. I told him that we wouldn't be 11-1. I said 8-4 or 9-3 is pretty reasonable, and he retorted with, "Oh yeah, I remember you. You're the guy who refuses to admit that we are anything better than #12 in the conference." That is verbatim, by the way. I claimed we would lose 4 times, which is far from 12th, as the lowest was Colorado who was 2-10. I can't stand people like this. We play Nebraska, texas, 0U, Texas Tech, and a few other decent teams. There's no way we go 11-1. He also claimed that texas was getting worse when they have the 3rd best recruiting this season. :no1: Does this drive anyone else crazy?

Homers used to drive me nuts, but now I think it's funny. I've just learned not to take them seriously.

Everyone talks about how Laker fans are homers. For the most part that is just not true. Where I live, everybody says how much we suck etc. We are realists. Of course there are the dumbasses that think we will championship, but for the most part, we are just real about our team.Celtic fans come to mind when you talk about homers. Not all Celtic fans are this way, but many overrate their team so much. They talk about how they have so much talent and potential and that they can do all this stuff. Injuries are there, but if they have so much talent and potential, they would have won something. But that's why you don't overrate your players.EDIT: This is as close to my original post as I could remember.

Yeah, I said that Laker fans were not all bad, but there is a good number that are homers. I think it's mostly because they have such a large fan base and a lot of bandwagoners (not the fault of real Lakers fans). And yeah, the Celtics have a lot of homers too, but they also have a lot of good pieces and hope for the future. They've had hard luck, so I don't blame them.CB32 said that I would kill myself if I were a Celtics fan, but I think it's just as bad if not worse here because we have multiple sports. Everyone has an opinion on something. I've heard someone say Billy Gillispie was the best coach on earth (pretty sure he was serious), someone wrote into the paper and said we're a football school and not a basketball school (and apparently that we never should like basketball), and another guy said Kevin Durant wouldn't be a high pick (at which point I told him Durant would be a top 2 pick). It just drives me nuts because they seem to literally have no concept of reality. In 2004, we had a really good season with Reggie McNeal. He didn't have as many good players around him, and we had a FAR harder schedule than we've had since Stephen McGee has ever had here. That said, McNeal is a criminal, so good riddance. There's just so few bright spots in football from my perspective.

A lot of my friends in the Boston area (not on this board) were big time Delonte West homer-fans. If you catch my drift...they were acting as if we traded Larry Bird when Ainge shipped Delonte to Seattle. I love Delonte just as much as the next guy, but he wasn't the Celtics savior.

From where I'm from, Ottawa, nobody cares about the Toronto Raptors. It's all about the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs.
