Two unnecessary deaths. The police killed the son, and ignored the stabbed mother for half an hour, so she died, too. Such outcomes are pre-approved, as long as the police follow shooting policy. Who wrote those rules? When will each community vote on its detailed police policies? Oh right, I forgot. The issue is how to get rid of Mayor Wheeler, and sweep under the rug the cause of the demonstrations...police policies about when to shoot, and how many shots. Since the true problem is never addressed, occasional riots keep happening for decades.

The first article is about the contradictions inherent in the evil legal system. Lawyers and police have many customs of the trade which should not be allowed. The second article is about putting policy on the ballot, but it isn't policy about the when-to-shoot issue, and it isn't specific, just a vague general directive. If we could vote on specific detailed practices of the opague legal system (with frequent votes to renew or evolve the procedures), a lot would change toward transparency.
Yes, obviously tragic events for Ron. I'd like to point out that Johnny Weismueller will always be Tarzan to me. By the way, the stunt woman for Jane in the Weismueller Tarzan shows was none other than Don Schollander's mother. Don was the winner of a record setting number of gold medals in the Summer Olympics in swimming and was from Oswego, Lake Oswego at the time. His mom was a substitute teacher at first Oswego High School and later Lake Oswego High School. I used to swim in the lake with Don when he was developing. Yes, I was quite the swimmer in my youth. Now, I'm best described as a whale. Thus endeth your trivia lesson for the day.
