The Dallas Mavericks are eyeing several free agents, including: James Posey (Miami Heat), P.J. Brown (Chicago Bulls), Chris Webber (Detroit Pistons) and possibly Matt Barnes and Mickael Pietrus, both of the Golden State Warriors, although a likely sign-and-trade for Pietrus, a restricted free agent, makes him a more difficult acquisition. P.J. Brown or Chris Webber would be a great low post addition for the Mavericks. They could use some offense down low, considering they have great post defense in DeSegana Diop and Eric Dampier. P.J. Brown probably would be the better acquisition, considering that he'd come at a cheaper price and still could give you almost the same amount of offense CWebb could.
Hopefully Dallas being attracted to Chris Webber and PJ Brown will distract them from the Andray Blatche situation. The Mavericks want to win now and Blatche can still be considered a project so it would be ill-advised for Dallas to take Blatche over a proven veteran who can contribute like Webber who would likely start or play behind Dirk. Dallas continues to stack their roster, at this point they have the pieces to win a championship. It's clear that Cuban is willing to spend money to continue to deepen his backcourt. The Mavericks just need to make sure that they don't break down in another important series.
I'm starting to think nothing will materialize from these rumors. Mavs are just talking and not conducting face to face interactions with any of the free agents. Pietrus wants to go to Miami, why would Nellie want to negotiate a deal with Cubes at this point in time? I say that's a longshot, PJ Brown is contemplating retirement and I thought this was a great point by an analyst. When a player is thinking about hanging it up or continuing to play, he's not there mentally anymore. Not he's crazy but he's second guessing himself. Also, last I read he wants a Florida team.I'd take him cheap but not for the MLE. C-Webb, I'd welcome but he wants to wait it out and see what happens with Detroit. Don't care for Posey. Matt Barnes is clearly looking for a paycheck and I hate those kinds of mentality from players. The next season hardly lives up to their worth. PASS!Oh and Bass will likely be our backup pf going into the season imo. He shined in summer league and is more ready then our younger ones at the position(Bonsu, Fazekas). He'll be cheap and the best option besides Webber on the market. For swing, I'd bring in Eddie Jones, he's not mentioned on here but we've targeted him before and Heat don't appear quickly to resign.
Why was Brandon Bass on the Mavs' summer league team? Isn't he under contract with the New Orleans Hornets?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Why was Brandon Bass on the Mavs' summer league team? So he came to Mavs and I don't see Hornets matching for a guy who was in Scott's doghouse and not getting minutes. Plus they didn't even put him on their summer league team.
I think Mavs have a good shot at Bass. It just doesn't make since much...Hornets let him join Mavs Summer League but then why the hell would they want to sign and bring him back. I know Hornets fans like him. Like Rok said he was in the doghouse and underused
OK changing players now.. whats the story with Eddie Jones? Is he gonna re-sign w/ Miami or go somewhere else?

They didn't seem to like him very much this past season; I wouldn't be surprised if they let the Mavs take him.
