Last night, I was watching an exhibition game in which Team USA basketball scrimmaged against itself. There are 32 players total between the two teams that are vying for 17 final roster spots. My question is, should Baron Davis be on the team? With the roster including some questionable players like JJ Reddick, Luke Ridnour, Adam Morrison, Antawn Jamison, etc... I can't believe that Baron Davis is not getting a shot at the USA jersey. Did he not prove that, when healthy, he is one of the most talented and influential players in the league? How did Morrison, Reddick, and Ridnour do last seaon? Wait, what? They were mediocre players on below-average teams? So, how do they get the call and not Baron? It is just perplexing to me. Also, Kevin Durant and Greg Oden have never even played in a regular season game. And it showed last night. Durant looked lost out there. Baron Davis can play with anyone and it is about time to give credit where credit is due.Nishan Wilde is VP of Sales at Robbins Sports and Athletics, a national provider of Track Uniforms, Basketball Uniforms, Gym Bags and Portable Scoreboards.
Wow, this topic is all wrong.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nishanw @ Jul 23 2007, 02:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Last night, I was watching an exhibition game in which Team USA basketball scrimmaged against itself. Plus, Durant had one of the better games of any other player. He had 22 points, on 9-14 shooting (2-5 from deep). He also had 5 rebounds, 4 steals, and no turnovers. How did he look lost? And about Davis. I'm sure with him being so injury prone, most Warriors' fans wouldn't want him risking an injury on Team USA because he is so valuable to the team and they are looking to make another playoff run. If Davis is hurt, they will have a very very tough time making the playoffs.
Okay, first of all Zards and GrizzFanTaylor, I did watch the game and the reason Durant scored so many points was because they were easy shots that his teammates had set up for him. When he was really challenged by the opposing team, he wasn't very good. Obviously, the USA sees potential in him and the players were trying to give him some confidence, allowing him some room to play. They coddled him just like you would a newborn. Because that's what he is, a newborn to the NBA. And as for the roster, go to the following pages and you will see the full roster, not just the roster for the exhibition game: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=TeamUSA-Roster-Page1 and http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=TeamUSA-Roster-Page2. As you can see, there are 32 players including Ridnour, Morrison and Oden. Here's a tip, genius. Before you go criticizing someone, you should get the real facts. Seriously, I feel like I am in a bad high school debate class where the participants think they know what they are talking about but they don't.As far as Baron Davis is concerned, you have shown that you did not read what I said or simply did not understand it. I wasn't asking whether or not he is injury prone or whether or not Warriors' fans want him to play. I was saying that his performances warrant a shot at the USA jersey. And yes, he does deserve to wear the red, white and blue. So, posting that I am a joke without actually doing your homework, shows that you are the biggest moron in the world.

Currently, there are only 17 players vying for 12 roster spots, not 32 for 17. Marion, Brad Miller, Odom, Chris Paul, Paul Pierce, Wade, Arenas, Boozer, Bowen, Jamison, and Joe Johnson are all on the roster you linked me to, but none of them are at camp for some reason or another. Which means, the 17 players in the scrimmage are the 17 players vying for a roster spot, which is what I said. So, before you go calling people morons, check YOUR facts buddy.
To answer your question- no. For the sake of the Warriors, he shouldn't be playing Summer ball because of his trick knee and whatever else he has had with them.

Of course he isn't gonna play.
He definitely deserved an invite but as a Warriors fan I am glad he is not in this. I don't want to risk losing him for a year just because of Team USA.

He already is injury prone and this can effect more I would like to see him be in it too and plus they have enough pint guards even though Davis can switch to th 2 with the size of the players he is playing against.
