I'd rather him forget the name of Milquetoast Mitt than forget to tell people in February that Covid19 was a serious virus and we should be prepared for it.

I'd rather him forget the name of Milquetoast Mitt than disband the pandemic response team.

I'd rather him forget the name of Milquetoast Mitt than grabbing women by the pussy.

All true, but still that memory lapse, coupled with the running for senate gaffe, are not exactly confidence builders. We basically have a choice for president between a geriatric guy with obvious memory issues and a flaming sack of crap. I’ll take the geezer, but I would sure rather have someone younger and more competent. Our system of selecting candidates for the highest office in the land is not working well.

    Biden's swamp is already developing.

I'd rather have career politicians than failed businessmen. This idea that experienced politicians = bad is just parroting Trump's nonsense about the swamp.

For fucks sake, the current Chief of Staff Mark Meadows lied about his BS from some podunk university in NC. The guy is walking around the Whitehouse with an associates degree and 0 experience. Every position in his cabinet has been held by crooked tax evaders. That is more of a swamp than anything Biden can put together.

I'd rather have a younger candidate, but my issue was how people will say "Ha! see your guy does this" and then acts like theirs doesn't.

Like seeing people bring up shit Biden said 40 years ago (which he doesn't say now) and ignore that Trump says stuff now that is cringeworthy, and they actually *agree* with what Biden said 40 years ago .

I am 12 years younger than Biden and I sometimes get stuck remembering names. I am definitely not senile.

I get your general issue, but I’m not sure how it applies here. Joe’s mental lapses that were brought up happened this week. Mental acuity certainly is a reasonable factor in choosing who you vote for.

Make it all about Trump, when my post was about Biden. This is the same typical twist the conversation away from the topic that both sides use when they want to deflect.

I think if you try, you could do better than this?

I’d probably vote for you, but you’re not running. A few incidents like this one on a long campaign trail are absolutely normal. Joe’s had more than a few and they weren’t all just simple brain fart situations. I’ve seen videos where he gets totally lost in his train of thought and can’t find his way back. I’m going to vote for him, but I have serious doubts about his ability to finish a first term.

Explain to me your stance on then. Who would you have in these positions?

    The two sides are clear.
    1) Career politicians, with some semblance of diversity.
    2) Old, white, failed business men.

I just woke up and you rant at me from atop a soapbox in one post, then in the next post, want to give me homework?!?

You won't even say why you are ok with swamp in Biden's (possible) administration and I'm suppose to do all the work here?

What homework? I'm just asking you who you would rather have.

And again with this swamp stuff. Why are career politicians BAD?

You, most likely, didn't even watch the video, and now have me explaining things... to you, without giving any explanations of your own. You've shifted the burden onto me while deflecting away from yourself in this one-sided conversation. How about actually making a convincing argument of your own first, then I will reply with one of my own. Your knee jerk reaction to my original post isn't getting either of us anywhere.

Give us a break. Do you actually think “the swamp” will EVER disappear???? Anyone who has been paying attention knows that that swamp has gotten much bigger, deeper and far more murky (and dangerous) the past 4 years. The choice isn’t about whether we WANT a swamp or not. The question is what KIND of swamp we can live with. For me, the choice is a no brainer........

So, two party swamp is fine. I see.

I have never said that I don't want Trump out of office (I am never Trump, never Biden after all). Trump needs to be removed, possibly, in any manner possible for his crimes. That doesn't take away the fact that democrats are fine with their swamp, same as republicans are fine with theirs.

I can't see how anyone could be fine with this situation. Yet, both parties supporters seem to be perfectly fine with it.

Not sayin’ I’m fine with it in any way, shape or form. I’m just an old man who has been around long enough to know that life is pretty much “same shit, different day”. We don’t get to choose whether we want a swamp or not. That swamp is as old as America itself. What we DO get a say on (at least to a degree) is what kind of swamp we want. I’m just being realistic here. If you want to spend the rest of your days chasing an impossible (and improbable) dream, be my guest. You’ll only end up disappointed (and even more disillusioned than you already seem to be). I’m not trying to be patronizing or pedantic. I’m just sharing my own personal experience. You can accept it or reject it. Life moves on.....

I apologize for the tone I'm going to use in advance, but from my perspective, your 'both-sides-suck-I-won't-support-either-because-I-want-perfection' idealism is useless and juvenile...sorry. You're basically left with protest votes that nobody gives a shit about, or not voting.

if you want money out of politics (good luck with that), then which side might be more receptive to working toward that goal? If you want government that adheres to science in a health crisis, which side offers the best hope for that? If you want government to stay out of your bedroom, which side is most likely to force it's way thru your bedroom door? If you think as a living being the environment you actually live in should be healthy and protected, which side seems more inclined to protect it? If you believe that everybody eligible to vote should have an equal opportunity to vote, which side has engineered a decades long campaign to suppress voting?

the list of actual substantive differences between the parties is nearly endless.

your 'never-trump-never-Biden' stuff is fundamentally you saying 4 more years of trump is ok with you. There's only one alternative in 2020. Your vote is your vote and you're free to do with it what you want. But I don't respect the 'both-sides-do-it' position at all because I recognize that matters of degree can make a different world

You are way off here. I won't bother to go on.

Edit: Starting off a post by calling someone juvenile is, ironically, never the adult way to go.
