just a point of clarification: Whiteside in a sign and trade; did the CBA change because it used to be (I think) that a S&T player had to be traded by himself...?
One more time- From the way I see it this will never work. Just repeating myself might get you to actually read and understand that this is the way I see it. There is no wrong or right and there is no argument. It’s simply the way I feel about bringing Westbrook to the Blazers not to mention it’s absolutely ludicrous and would never happen. Another reason I am saying “From the way I see it this will never work”
That was another absolutely terrible idea. The difference between OKC combining him with two other so called PGs (note SGA's size) and us is the salary implications. You should probably never put that much of your salary cap into three players but you definitely can't win if you put that much of your available money into three players under 6'4".
This is the downside... no, the fact that this trade wouldn't likely be the best value that OKC could get and is impossible due to the CBA's rules on sign and trades is a huge upside because it means if you were GM you couldn't pull off the insanity of this horrible deal for us (unless of course you are just proposing flipping Russ which if it weren't for that pesky CBA I'd be all for). The more crazy part of this is that you are bemoaning the fact that we couldn't give up even more assets to make this disaster happen because we don't have enough young players or high draft picks to waste on this lunacy. Putting down over one hundred million dollars a season on three guys under 6'4" is most likely the worst idea ever floated in this forum... something inside you knew it when you started this, just look at your thread title yet you continue to defend it... I don't know if this is some hilarious troll job, if you've lost it or if you just have that little understanding of how bad an idea this is.
No Seeings, and ABSOLUTELY LUDICROUS not feelings. Lets try this one more time but after that you are on your own. The way I SEE it. This will never work. The very idea of bringing Westbrook to the Blazers and actually posting it on the site has lost you some cred around here. I'm sure you will be fine but it will take some time for people to forgive you. They will never forget so don't even ask. You might as well have said Raymond Felton.

I am legitimately trying to figure out if there is a worse acquisition the Blazers could make, and am having trouble.
Don't get me wrong, I think just even trying to guard a back court of Damian Lillard and Russell Wesbrook would be nearly impossible for opponents, but Westbrooks style of play would kill this team. The amount of bad shots, not only leading bad possessions but taking away from Lillard *(and others), would be awful. He cant make 3's, so if you are smart and defending Portland, you sag and help off Lillard. It would be a nightmare.
No thanks. Westbrook is one of the few players where "empty stats" is meaningful. Usually people use that term to mean "puts up big numbers on a losing team." That's not how I mean it. Westbook's stats are inflated in useless ways--he consciously steals rebounds from teammates, his scoring is inefficient and he accumulated his massive assist totals in Oklahoma City by refusing to run any halfcourt offense other than possessing the ball until the shot clock had run down enough that anyone he passed the ball had to shoot. He's not interested in secondary assists--those don't pad out the box score. He might make a good reserve, to have someone that can be a hub with absolutely no other star shot-creators on the floor with him, but he's grossly overpaid for that role and would obviously not accept it. He'd make a terrible acquisition to play alongside other stars in an offense that isn't based solely on him.
So Dame likes CJ and Dame dislikes Westbrook. And we think Neil will trade CJ for Westbrook? (plus Collins) I don't see it.
