Yeah, in the case of the Lakers, it's hard to call Davis the second best player. Let's just call him 1b. He's certainly not in the 'trade for CJ' discussion.
He didnt sign this contract in 2016, almost every contract signed in 2016 is over, and it's no longer 2016. Richardson isnt even a good 3pt shooter so 3&D is a stretch.
I disagree with the part of prefering a poor defensive SG compared to a poor defensive PF. Simply because we have Lillard at PG so both our guards are poor defenders. There is not many PFs that can do much damage out there, but guards? Our good defensive SF can only guard one spot and we cannot waste him on guards. Ideally a good defensive guard would take the best opponent's guard and leave Dame the lesser threat.
The 2nd best Laker is Kuzma? The 2nd best 6er is Harris? Wiggins? Jabari Parker? No offense, but are you mental?
I know that but it’s still a good contract regardless. Richardson is a career 36% 3 point shooter. That’s about average especially for a guard.
Re: Josh Richardson I think this year was a down year for him as well. Nobody was particularly happy in Philly this year, as far as I could tell (part of why they canned the coach). So here are his stats from the previous season, when he was effectively Miami's best player: Also from that season, ranking shooting guards by WINS:
Birthdates of all parties involved in trade: 30 June, 1985 - Ariza 19 Sept., 1991 - CJ 15 July, 1992 - Harris 15 Sept., 1993 - Richardson
If people don't like this trade; can they think of another one where CJ still goes to Philly but a third team sends assets to us. I think Philly will pay the most for CJ so it is advantageous for us to trade with them.
Yeah, that was kinda my thinking as well, trying to buy low on someone who could have a bounce back season for us. I don't think Prince all of a sudden makes us title contenders or anything, but I think he is an improvement over Ariza short/long term, and I threw in a pick swap of us moving up ever so slightly as well.
But why? It's not that you get a 100% good player with the pick and Love is not that great anymore. At least Josh and Tobias are solid and don't come with injury concerns
Why would Philly essentially trade Shake, Matisse & Tyrese for Hood coming off a serious injury? Only to make salaries match?
