Kobe Bryant is known around the league for his clutchness, maybe more so than any other player, but what most people don't know is that from '03 to '06, he shoots a very low 21.9% when his team is tied or down with 24 seconds left in the game. They're 11 players in the league that have made more game-winners than Bryant since '03. Most of them, people would never even think of. Carmelo tops the list, hitting 11 out of his 17 game-winning shots since '03. That's a very high percentage, yet no one ever talks about him being a clutch player. Chauncey Billups, another player known for his clutchness, is 5-26 for game-winning shots. Pierce, the main guy for his team, has 5 assists from '03-'06 in game-winning situations.http://82games.com/random12.htmI just came across this and found it interesting and something worth posting, seeing that everyone is always saying how clutch Kobe is.

I don't know what that site is talking about, kobe's gw since 2003-2004<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Lakers vs NuggetsLakers vs clippers Bryant hits the shot which won the game, smush's dunk at the end of the game meant nothing, the steal did thoughLakers vs clevelandLakers vs suns Playoffs2004-2005 seasonLakers vs bobcats2003-2004Lakers vs blazers (big 3 at end of ot)Lakers vs Nuggets (Jumper at buzzerLakers bs blazers again (lay up to take the lead with 31 ticks left)Lakers vs Bucks (Jumper in ot with 25 ticks left)</div>Maybe they don't consider kobe's gw against the blazers and bobcats because they were not in the last 15 seconds. Kobe has a lot of go ahead jumpers and shots to close the game out (when lakers are up by 1 etc). Using stats for clutchness is faultly because it doesn't take alot of things into account. And melo is known as one of the best gamewinning shot takers in the league. Atleast I know seeing as how I changed my name one to clutch melo.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Game Winning Shot Opportunity = 24 seconds or less left in the game, team with the ball is either tied or down by 1 to 2 points.</div>Yep, their definition is terrible.

I'm not try to say Kobe isn't clutch, I'm just trying to show you that Kobe isn't the clutchest player in the NBA like a lot of people think he is. And, I knew Melo was clutch as well, it's just that a lot of NBA fans don't think that because Bryant's game-winners always overshadow player's like Melo on highlights.

My answer is not gonna chance, from the first time we had this thread to this time. Kobe Bryant is my answer, without even hesitating. F*ck an 82games stat, if I need a player to create something out of nothing and send my team home with a victory, Kobe Bryant is the guy I'm giving the ball to.

I just ran across it and felt like it was something good to post. I know we've had clutch threads, but I've never seen that page posted. Oh well, I don't care. It's not like I'm the only one who posts useless threads.

Kobe Bryant, easily, I agree with CB32 in not caring about this 82 games stat. Bryant is completely focused when it comes down to the end of the game, teams put 2-3 players on him and he knows no one else on his team can hit that shot so he has to create himself. The one time the Lakers decided to go to Odom earlier this season, he airballed it and the Lakers lost. Kobe is the most clutch player in the NBA.

I would probably want to give the ball to Matt Carroll. He has a great shot and he can make the pull-up jumper, easy. But if he isnt available, definitely Kobe Bryant for all of the reasons already listed.

Kobe Bryant. He's the best player in the NBA, and also the most clutch. How many all time game winning shots has this guy made? He'll hit tough shots from anywhere, he'll create something out of nothing, he'll get to the free throw line...You can count on this guy do do SOMETHING when a team needs it.Other guys worth mentioning would be Gilbert Arenas and Carmelo Anthony.

Don't forget Michael Redd, he always steps up late in games, especially when the games on the line.

I think I would rather give the ball to Carmelo rather than Kobe. Since Melo has been in the league, he's hit more game-winning shots, and hits a better percentage of them than Kobe. In '05, Kobe was playing the Grizzlies, and Kobe missed 2 or 3 gamewinners in regulation and OT, and Memphis won the game. Now, I'm not saying that Kobe isn't clutch, but he's not automatic like people make him out to be. Kobe is definatly one of the clutchest players in the NBA, but I would feel more safe giving Melo the ball.

Melo is a huge clutch player. I thought everyone knew that, but I do remember that not much of anybody brought it up in the clutchest player thread last time. I'm pretty sure that's why that one commercial was how it was.

I would've still gone with melo, he's just overshadowed too much by d-wade and james. He really didn't even make the all-star team if it were not for the injuries of boozer and yao.

Watching Lebron in game 5 of the ECF, I might want to say him, but that's bias. Kobe Bryant is the answer in this situation.

Wow.I also forgot to mention gilbert arenas. He made many clutch shots for the wizards this past season so he would be my second option after kobe.
