Which NBA player do you think has the biggest USA fanbase? It's not always the best player who is the most popular. Who attracts the 'average fans' eye?Well, we all know that Kobe Bryant is widely considered the best NBA player but he does have alot of hate surrounding him. The 'Mamba' has a large fan base but he's also one of the most hated athletes. One very popular player that comes to mind is Carmelo Anthony. Ever since his Syracuse days he's been loved by average fans. Carmelo's second option, Allen Iverson, is also a very popular NBA player, however his hype has slightly slowed down since the Denver trade. Tracy McGrady is very popular as well, his scoring ability is what attracts a viewer into liking that player. The fact that he's paired up with Yao makes him very popular in China, but this thread is speficially for this country. LeBron James and Dwayne Wade are also both very popular because they're the face of the NBA at this point. Shaq is still widely popular but he's no longer loved at the same level as some of these other guys.I'll say that the most popular NBA player is likely: Dwayne Wade
Dwyane Wade? Are you kidding? It is Lebron James, without a doubt. Sprite, Nike, his own clothing line, and he even has his own flavor of bubble gum, Lebron Lightning Lemonade. Dont get me wrong, Dwyane Wade is a star but like you said "to the average fan" Lebron is definately a bigger star.

Although I disagree with Wade being better, these people were likely enlightened by the 2006 finals and have become fans of him. In my area Wade is very popular. Also, I'm not going to go into all the sponsers Wade has but it's probabely not much less than LeBron.
EVERYONE wants to be Dwyane Wade, I think he's way more popular in Miami than LeBron is in Cleveland. There a lot of commercials for DWade, as well: Converse, T-Mobile, etc.
Lebron James is the most popular basketball player as of now. But, if this topic was who do people think is the best basketball player as of now, it would be D-Wade.
I think its between Allen Iverson, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady. I know for a fact me and my friends always talked and knew evertthing about Allen Iverson and Tracy McGrady even when we didnt know sh*t about the NBA. AIs shoes have cooled down in the past few years, but back around 2001 when his shoes were must haves, he was huge. They arent the best players in the world, but all 4 are extremely marketable.
Everyone is saying LeBron James.. Well, besides the WASHINGTON Fans.. hmm :drunk:
I wouldnt say Lebron is the MOST popular in the NBA, but for sure in Cleveland. I would like to say Dwight Howard or Chris Paul are the favorites in the NBA. Name one thing a commentator or analyst have ever said anything bad about those two. It sickens me.

Look at it this way: the Heat winning the ring was a huge and very attractive story. Come on now; it's Miami...beaches, sun, fine women, Shaq. Then take a look at the Heat jerseys. They're hot sellers. Cool white and fire red and black...it's fashionable, and so is Wade. People love the guy not just because of what he does on the court but for how he carries himself off-court. They buy his shoes, they want the Sidekick, he's in all of the commercials. But, I do agree it is a tough call between him and LeBron.
LeBron James. He is popular because the average fan likes his exciting, highflying style of play. He is also great at marketing and has already co-hosted the ESPYs at just the age of 22.
LeBron, because he hasn't run anyone out of town, hasn't demanded a trade, hasn't raped anyone, and hasn't completely tried to mimic another player's game.
LeBron. He is so overrated nowadays by the media etc. It gets sickening. But he is still the most popular in the country.

I don't even want to contest your posts, because you'll come after me and say I'm a homer. Kobe is still the closest player to Jordan right now, if you don't see that...then you are just a hater. I'm not a homer, I will never forgive him for his trade demands...never. But the player he is, is remarkable.
