<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Miami Signs Smush ParkerMiami Herald - 07/27 - 4:01 PM ESTThe Heat concluded its nearly month-long search for a veteran point guard Friday when it agreed to terms with guard Smush Parker, two sources said. Parker started most of the past two years for the Lakers before losing his starting job late last season.Parker, 26, is believed to have agreed to a two-year contract for a portion of the Heat's $5.35 million mid-level exception. The deal is contingent on Parker passing a physical on Monday.</div>I'm sure Smush was near the bottom of their offseason free agent PG list, but at least they got someone I guess.

The Heat over-payed for Smush Parker. We saw the mess he created in Los Angeles last season, he's only going to be a decent backup on this squad. Parker is not a good passer and does take bad shots. The Heat should have pushed for a Alston deal as he has promised to improve his game for next season. I think of Parker as a down-grade from Gary Payton. Also, I assume this signing does means that the urgency for Navarro will go down however.

We don't even know the terms of the deal. We know it's 2 years and a "portion of the MLE." I doubt it's the full MLE, and if it exceeds $2.5 million per year it is too much, but you can't say they overpaid yet.

<span style="font-family:Tahoma">Glad they didn't get Bibby, because I don't wanna make them better... I guess they really wanted a point guard.. But Williams isn't THAT BAD now...</span>

Jason Williams must be psyched now. He probably thought he was going to have to compete for playing time. Now he just has to sit back and watch Smush shoot himself in the foot.

He's certainly not that bad, however, Gary Payton has aged and his game has deteriorated so now they needed a backup. Jason Williams is also starting to get old so his minutes will probabely go down while Parker will get more. I don't think that Smush Parker was a solid solution at all however.

If this off-season's trend continues, he'll have been over-paid.

Well, Smush did make some plays for us while he was here. Blocking Jason Terry last year for example. Good luck in Miami Smush! [IMG]

Definetely not, unless Jason Williams is traded in the Navarro deal I can't see Smush Parker ever being a start on Miami. Even if Williams is sent to Washington, JCN would likely end up starting. I don't think starting Smush would be a great idea as it would force Wade to be the PG even more often.

He also caused a ton of locker room problems and had many arguments with Phil Jackson about his playing time. He was a very lazy player.
