Mike Richman said in his pod that the offense of the bench should be really really good with Simons, Trent, Hood, Melo and Kanter and the bad defense should not matter that much against 2nd units

There is this really weird thing that so many keep talking about which is the idea of a second unit. I don't know if you guys actually watch basketball but that's not a real thing. We have what are called rotations. So even though we are about ten deep this season lets not talk about how second units match up with other second units. Like every team in the league we will stagger minutes so we have some of our best players on the floor at all times, for example I'm pretty sure Stotts' philosophy will continue to be to have Dame or CJ on the floor for every meaningful second of the game.

I don't recall where, but I had read that Hood is cleared and ready to start training camp and that Collins will likely be ready in mid January

Have to see how well Hood returns from injury. Have to see if 1M has improved. Have to expect Collins to return at some point? Have to see if Trent can play keep shooting well.
Too many questions but i agree they should be top 10 at least if healthy.

Top 15 or above average until we see how they mesh.

Yep. Bench players not an actual second unit. Also you have matchups for every team. Starters plus who is working will finish the game. In some games that might be Trent. Others it might be Melo or DJJ?

I don't think Hood being ready to play is the concern. The concern is the level he's going to play at this year since Achilles tear recovery seems to be a 2 year process, and even after that time, most players have lost parts of their game for good

maybe Hood will be an exception...hope so....but any optimism about this injury should be guarded

I am impressed with our lack of chumps and developees in the 2nd unit (outside of Ant as a PG). We haven't had
such overall quality in recent memory.

So, I don't know how our bench compares to other team's benches, but it's a LOT better than
when we were bringing in developing Layman or PatC or Biebs or Noah ..., or vet chumps like Tolliver, Baze, and others.

I think Hood will still be a productive player for the team this year and we have depth if he stumbles. He also won't need to play big minutes right away as well.

Those two are highly overrated. So they were the 151st and 152nd best players I guess. Not impressed.
