That was kind of an ugly game, for both teams. It showed that Oregon wasn't really going to go to the playoffs, so to get mad at the Beavers for depriving the Pac 12 of a representative in the playoffs is stupid. Oregon barely beat their opponents this year and played like ass for chunks of this game.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the Ducks have been playing with fire with their defense. It's been really bad this year, and was worse tonight. After last season Duck fans were worried that the DC Andy Avalos would only be around for two seasons. Now, they are worried that he'll be around for 3 seasons Joey Harrington threw 5 interceptions against OSU as a Junior in his 21st start. QB's have bad games. Even Mariotta and Herbert had bad games, and yeah, is was game(s) plural. Shough made some good passes but this was his worst game so far and it wan't enough to overcome the Duck D giving up 532 yards and only forcing 2 punts congrats to the beevers....they did just enough and made the plays on both sides of the ball when they needed to
We are back to being competitive! Jonathan Smith has done wonders to have us here in year 3 - Anderson had left such a mess I wasn't sure we could get out for a while.
Smith is a nice coach. But have ‘us here’ in year 3? What’s here? Upsetting the Ducks? I mean aren’t they still 2 and 2 on the year? I guess it’s all relevant to what I suppose
Yes, an upset over a top 10 teams is 'here'. We couldn't win a single conference game prior to Smith getting here - and only got 1 his first year. By no means have we arrived as some newfound powerhouse - but we are back to being a legitimate PAC-12 program again - one that we can tune in to watch each week knowing that we *could* win the football game. I don't think you can appreciate how bad of shape this program was in by 2017. The roster was a disaster. Anyone who sat through that at Reser deserves a god damn medal.
The Beavs deserved the win tonight, but having watched all 4 Oregon games, they are not a top 10 team. I think Smith will get the Beavs back to where Riley had them: Making more bowls than they miss, sneaking a couple 9-10 win seasons in, and then have a handful of clunker seasons. He'll never get fired or get a better job, and therefore be in Corvallis for a long time.
