They are desperate for pitching and more LeMahieus. They must say goodbye to the Gardners, the Sanchezs, the Fords, the Paxtons, the Happs....too bad they will keep albatrosses like Stanton, Tanaka,Voit..... they just do not scream out “champions”!
There are managerial openings in Detroit, Chicago (White Sox) and Boston. Boner would curry much favor with Yankee fans should he choose to apply for one of those positions.
One thing about Trashman, he can surely talk a good trade. But he hasn’t sealed the deal the last two years. Will he stand pat going into year 3 of “team stagnation”? This team is in urgent need of management turnover!
"Aaron Boone will be back next year, that's just a fact." Yankees managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner
Of course no one but the Yanx want Gian-K-arlo! If only he could play every day all season long like he did in the LDS, if only... but he can't! https://nypost.com/2020/10/30/yankees-giancarlo-stanton-declines-opt-out/ Still owed $218 million over the course of the 13-year, $325 million deal he signed with the Marlins in 2014, Stanton is now on the books through 2027, with a $10 million buyout — or another $25 million salary — in 2028. As part of the agreement the Yankees made with Miami when they traded for Stanton in December 2017, the Marlins will pay the Yankees $30 million of his remaining contract since he did not opt out of the deal. He’s due to make $29 million in each of the next two seasons before a bump to $32 million per year from 2023 to 2025. "With the Yankees expected to try to get under the $210 million luxury tax threshold next season, the presence of Stanton and Gerrit Cole — who will make $36 million — will no doubt limit what they do elsewhere."
https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id...s-exercise-option-lefty-reliever-zack-britton NEW YORK -- The Yankees picked up two option years on reliever Zack Britton worth $27 million and declined options on outfielder Brett Gardner and pitcher J.A. Happ. Thank God Happ is gone. Hate to see Gardner go, but it's time to move on and let Frazier live up to his high expectations. Gardner and Happ become eligible for free agency. Gardner will get a $2.5 million buyout rather than a $10 million salary. Happ's deal did not have a buyout. Britton's deal calls for salaries of $13 million next year and $14 million in 2022. In addition to the team's two-year option, Britton's contract included a $13 million player option for 2021.
Given the economic impact placed on MLB during the'20 season there will be many teams shedding feathers. I'm glad to see Happ go, probably see Paxton out the door as well. In the case of Gardner I'd hpe the Yankees could find him a Coaching spot should he not go FA. Boner needs all the help he can get. The local team declined options on Morton and Zunino hoping I guess to bring them back at a reduced rate. Given the economic changes brought to MLB bt the pandemic I imagine we'll see many teams shedding feathers.
"The Yankees announce that they have exercised their club option for LHP Zack Britton, and declined their 2021 options for OF Brett Gardner and LHP J.A. Happ."
Yankee management just can’t let go of C, Gary Sanchez. Cashman, et al, claim this is an off season achievement! Unf’kingbelievable. Coming off a horrible 60 game season, they’ve decided to live with his erratic offense & his defensive liabilities. In my opinion,,,,,,,,another reason why this team ain’t winning shit!
