Which players in the NBA were/are the most crushing shotblockers? Not speaking in terms of numbers, but in the way they do it. I.e. when Theo Ratliff was healthy for the most part and playing good for the Blazers, he was probably the toughest shotblocker in the NBA. He would just destroy shots either smacking them against the backboard or just swatting them away with power. I used to try to model that guy so much. Another guy was Kenyon Martin, who would jump and try to smack (or even snatch) the ball JUST before it would be called goaltending.
Chris Bosh gets my vote.</p> His weakside help shot blocks are impressive because he his so fast and gets off his feet so high and fast too.</p> when he catches someone unaware, a spectator endsup wearing a spalding forehead tatoo</p>
Is swatting the ball with power really the best way to block? Isn't it better to block the ball with less power but more control, so you can make sure it goes to a teammate running down the court?
Yep, Alonzo Mourning has my vote - he just does it with style</p> Although the most emphatic shotblocker would have been Kenyon Martin</p>

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (L)</div><div class='quotemain'>Kenyon Martin. Forget blocking shots, he catches them.</div></p> co-sign. Kenyon Martin is so ridiculous that David Stern has cloned his DNA and called this second coming "Sean Williams"</p>
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Kid Chocolate)</div><div class='quotemain'>ADONAL FOYLE!</div>ya...and other than him, i say it's gotta be josh smith. i'm surprised no one even mentioned him.
Yes it's better to keep it in play, but sometimes it's just the better move to try and intimidate. To make a habit of it isn't smart though.</p> </p> Josh smith is a good one. I remember a game against the Suns were he got Amare pretty good a couple times. That was right before Amare viciously dunked on him. </p> http://youtube.com/watch?v=5LqGvzrxNas </p>
Easily Bill Russell. They created the stat after him soley. I don't know what more a tribute/statement that could be.
If you guys would remember, Keon Clark. Im not even going to lie that ball was like a football to him. He really pumped up the crowd with his blocks.

He perfected the art of keeping the ball in bounds or hitting it to a teammate to start the break.</p>
stromile swift gets some damn good blocks. he jumps up mad high with his amazing hops, and just sends that ball. i wish he was a smarter player, he could do so much for a team.
