Sports2 made the biggest mistake of their lives, you don't buy a forum!!!! It's the community that makes up the forum not the board, see ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont care who the hell buys the forum, but dont change something we were all custom too. By the forum, link to to sportstwo and leave the BBW forum as it was....we all liked it the best like that. I honestly do not like this forum set up at all.....

We don't think we bought a forum. We bought a domain name, and an opportunity.

We absolutely agree that it's the community that makes up the forum.

    Cheers

Then dont screw up the communitys home. Im not trying to diss your forum.....but it seems unorganized, too long to get to one place and quite ugly...compared to the BBW forum. Like I said, i dont care who owns BBW or who bought the domain name...but keep our forum.

Since SportTwo's scrpit is entirely made from scratch, this site is very customizable. If you dislike the layout or the template, please tell us and we will promptly address your concern. Our goal is to work with you guys into developing the best comprehensive sports messageboard in the web, while providing great care and attention to all of the forums that make up this site. One final thought. This is a relatively new site, but most of us aren't new to moderating and developing messageboards. Personally, I had over 16,000 posts in another messageboard that has nearly five million posts and over 25,000 members, but I moved here because of the exciting potential of this site. The people that run this board are very passionate and helpful. The goal is to maintain your community and expand it into a terrific sports community.

If you ask me, the new people in charge sound like a bunch of corporate cheeseheads. Good riddance.

    To the admins here-

I have no doubt this is a very intelligent forum which is capable of excellent basketball discussion. But you don't know what it was like.

It was like a family at BBW, and we had much more than basketball talk. IMO which made it great. I wake up one morning, and BAM. Everything is gone. You guys are excellent admin, and I don't doubt that at all. However, it's hard to just change immediately like this. Probably what is making us all upset is that we had no warning AT ALL. Combs never mentioned selling the site.

I wish you guys luck, and I'm sorry for the disappointment.

    For everyone at BBW-

I asked Combs on his reasoning at Pistons.com, and he said.

    1. He wasn't gaining any money on BBW.

    2. He couldn't work with Balla, and that Tony was too egotistical.

I'd give you word for word, but the link to the Pistons.com forums seems to be down.

Allow me to explain this one thing.

This isn't ipboards or vb3 or anyone else's commercial software. We are absolutely going to be the only site on the 'net who is running it. It's only 8 weeks of work so far, so no doubt it's rough in places, but for 8 weeks, it does show a lot of promise.

Moving a whole very different structure of forum organization to here was a big concern, but assuring that all the content you worked hard to make for so long, your avatars, your PMs, and so on was our first priority for day 1. Day two has just started, and we're already working to make it easier to find stuff. I'm quite impressed with "your" community (it'd be mine too if I signed up and started posting, no?). I see some of your members with baseball banners in their signatures. This leads to questions like - do we have a graphics forum for NBA and another for MLB? Or can we make a big graphics central place where people can ask for baseball avatars during baseball season and NBA ones during the NBA season, and NFL ones during the NFL season?

My experience is running an NBA site with 25K posters and 4M+ posts and 800 people online most of the time. What this site is meant to do is address some of the issues that "generic" message board software has. We saw a big community divided into lots of smaller ones. Bulls forum, pretty big (the size of ALL of bballworld.us and then some). Nets forum, close to the Bulls in size and growing faster than any other. Blazers forum, moved over from another site en masse. They hardly met each other (bulls posters, nets posters) because they didn't go outside their forums much. You could go into the Bulls forum with 200 posters online (on a big day) and you'd hit reload, reload, reload on the forum's main page hoping someone would post something or reply to something you posted. You could have 50 guys just sitting there for 8 hours at a time and not much posting. In the offseason, people don't have much basketball to talk about. Baseball is big right now - Barry Bonds is about to break Aaron's record for homers, the pennant races are shaping up, etc. If you think about community like I do, it's not about hanging 8 hours at a time in a forum with not much activity and not meeting the (plenty of) new people who joined the site daily. Or only during NBA season. If we're truly friends, we can figure out stuff to do in the offseason (baseball, other sports, whatever).

We had a lot of people from overseas who couldn't get the games on TV or radio. They'd watch "game threads" we had going on during the games. People would watch the games on TV or internet, or listen on the radio, or follow along in the thread. They'd curse about bad foul calls, or "did you see that shot?" or "what a block!" and so on. It's like being at the game with your friends in person, or as close as you can get via the internet. But those commercial message boards don't really work the way you want. Why? Bulls play the Nets. There's a game thread in the Nets forum, and a game thread in the Bulls forum. Hardly any opportunity to trash talk or compliment (or whatever) the fans of the other team.

SportsTwo is 100% designed for sports. The posting mechanisms are already here - you guys have posted plenty in this thread alone to prove it works. The people coming here in shock over everything being so different so instantly are finding this thread, and surely others of interest, too. But like I said, this site is designed for sports. You want WWW pages for your Sim leagues? You can have them here. We have actual game threads that appear in the home and away teams' forums - both at the same time. Bulls posters get the bulls skin (which absolutely can be better and will be) while Nets posters get the nets skin. The thread is literally in both forums and both groups of fans are posting in the same thread. On top of that, there are box scores, scoring events, starting lineups, game matchups/previews, and recaps posted into the thread to help those who don't have access to TV or radio keep up .

Polls are great. With standard commercial or freeware msg boards, you get two kinds of polls. Pick one, or multiple choice. And that's it. This is a SPORTS SITE. Doesn't it make sense to have polls like they have in sports? Top 25 (like in NCAA) polls - OUR top 25. MVP style polls - 10 pts for 1st place vote, 9 for 2nd, etc. Brackets - like march madness except the winner and who moves on is determined by vote of the members. How about we vote on the best graphic image in graphic central and have it show up on the home page? See where I'm going with this? These things are possible and being added to S2 daily. See the Site Log BLog for a good idea of how stuff does get done here, gets done quickly, and quite well.

So we have sports news, stats, and box scores and the likes. I'd hang in that bulls forum, but I had to go to some other sports site to find out the atlanta hawks' record on any given day. We have an NBA home page - it's the NBA Teams forum from bbw, except it's also got the standings integrated. You see it all the time, you'll know who's got what W/L and who's .5 games out of the 8th seed. What's more interesting to me is the daily stats that come in. Stats for ONE day. This kind of thing can drive fantasy leagues, sim leagues, and other kinds of games and activities that are fun.

I can go on and on like this, but my hope is that you'll at least understand what you're running away from.

    Regards to all.

I can only say, I feel that I have been betrayed and lied to. When I logged on last night at BBW, it said it was undergoing "maintence".. yeah right. Combs made a selfish move, and one he will regret. I am gone, later.

It doesn't matter what features are offered here.

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that nothing can replace what we had over at BBW. It was simple, and we had a close community.

I feel terrible just leaving this forum because you guys seem like you are some honest, hard working admins...however, we were fine with what we had at BBW. Is it possible for you to direct everything to BBW instead of S2?

This is ridiculous. For this site to go under "maintenence" last night and then to be replaced by this? I think I speak for a lot of people in saying Combs is selfish... If any BBW member wants to try to make another forum, let me know. In the meantime you can get at me on AIM at SBoyd415.

Yea..i honestony dont mind posting under yall cause yall do seem like goood admins...but this isnt what ilike or the other members like at all. We just want a simple forum thats organized...maybe we would have reacted better to this if the forum wasnt so messy.
