Since SportTwo's scrpit is entirely made from scratch, this site is very customizable. If you dislike the layout or the template, please tell us and we will promptly address your concern. Our goal is to work with you guys into developing the best comprehensive sports messageboard in the web, while providing great care and attention to all of the forums that make up this site. One final thought. This is a relatively new site, but most of us aren't new to moderating and developing messageboards. Personally, I had over 16,000 posts in another messageboard that has nearly five million posts and over 25,000 members, but I moved here because of the exciting potential of this site. The people that run this board are very passionate and helpful. The goal is to maintain your community and expand it into a terrific sports community.

I've read half the messages in this thread so far and I can't believe you have to say "please tell us what you dislike and we will change it" Here:

    1. We got sold out

    2. BBW had a nice and easy layout

    3. Sportstwo has a horrible layout

    4. You destroyed the community

    5. It used to be easy to navigate and browse, now its impossible.

Everyone is saying this, and more. You actually have to ask? If you want people to stay, try putting money where your mouth is and I dont mean 20 grand. You're telling us how great the mods are and they're acting like self absorbed better then everyone pricks. A community just got blown up in a day, with no warning and you are moderating people swearing. Not even swearing AT YOU, just swearing in a post, cmon get real. I've seen posts saying how customizable the board is too, if this place got customized back to the old BBW style then maybe people would be willing to stick around but I dont see many people stick with this current layout, built from scratch or not I hope you guys are familiar with "there's no reason to re-invent the wheel".

Your points are valid. The moderators have been asked to not edit for a few days while you guys figure out which site you want to move on to.

I'll make two points of my own.

    1) Someone had to invent the wheel in the first place.

    2) If there weren't any innovation, the world would be a boring place, and you'd be sitting in the dark in a cave or something.

Haha, no thanks man. I liked Sports Evo, but otherwise I'll stick with a big site like this.

This isn't ipboards or vb3 or anyone else's commercial software. We are absolutely going to be the only site on the 'net who is running it. It's only 8 weeks of work so far, so no doubt it's rough in places, but for 8 weeks, it does show a lot of promise.
To be honest, we don't care about what software , who runs it , who doesn't, who programmed it or anything. We as the posters only care about the end result and that is how easy is it to use and yours is very easily one of the lower rated forum types I've posted in. I can't even sit back in my chair and read the posts!
My experience is running an NBA site with 25K posters and 4M+ posts and 800 people online most of the time. What this site is meant to do is address some of the issues that "generic" message board software has. We saw a big community divided into lots of smaller ones. Bulls forum, pretty big (the size of ALL of bballworld.us and then some). Nets forum, close to the Bulls in size and growing faster than any other. Blazers forum, moved over from another site en masse. They hardly met each other (bulls posters, nets posters) because they didn't go outside their forums much. You could go into the Bulls forum with 200 posters online (on a big day) and you'd hit reload, reload, reload on the forum's main page hoping someone would post something or reply to something you posted. You could have 50 guys just sitting there for 8 hours at a time and not much posting. In the offseason, people don't have much basketball to talk about. Baseball is big right now - Barry Bonds is about to break Aaron's record for homers, the pennant races are shaping up, etc. If you think about community like I do, it's not about hanging 8 hours at a time in a forum with not much activity and not meeting the (plenty of) new people who joined the site daily. Or only during NBA season. If we're truly friends, we can figure out stuff to do in the offseason (baseball, other sports, whatever).
Can you guys stop telling us all about your experience? Good mods prove it by just being good mods, there's no qualifications that carry over from anywhere. Every community is different and waiving around your credentials from past sites is basically irrelevant with the BBW guys. Anyway, as for the rest of what you described about "communities", you have to understand what you just described is exactly what we just had at BBW and you guys just ripped it out from under the entire community and are trying to ram this new stuff down everyones throats. For someone whos saying all this about communities you should understand the situation from the BBW guys just a little better.

SportsTwo is 100% designed for sports. The posting mechanisms are already here - you guys have posted plenty in this thread alone to prove it works. The people coming here in shock over everything being so different so instantly are finding this thread, and surely others of interest, too. But like I said, this site is designed for sports. You want WWW pages for your Sim leagues? You can have them here. We have actual game threads that appear in the home and away teams' forums - both at the same time. Bulls posters get the bulls skin (which absolutely can be better and will be) while Nets posters get the nets skin. The thread is literally in both forums and both groups of fans are posting in the same thread. On top of that, there are box scores, scoring events, starting lineups, game matchups/previews, and recaps posted into the thread to help those who don't have access to TV or radio keep up .
So um. You're trying to impress people now because .... the posting mechanism works. On a forum. Great. Maybe I wil stay after all because of this great feature.
I can go on and on like this, but my hope is that you'll at least understand what you're running away from.
Just like we can go on and on too, and we hope that maybe you'll at least understand what you took away from us and why so many people are against it.

Also, the for record, I only edited two posts made by a SportsTwo member and I discussed my reasoning with him using the PM system. He understands why the edit was justified.

He's no part of this going forward. He's history.

BTW, I live in Vegas and went to the summer league games a couple of weekends ago. I sat right next to Mitch Kupchak during the Lakers' game. I was wearing my Bulls hat. I almost got my friend to take a picture of me shaking his hand. I'd post it here with the caption: Denny and Mitch seal the deal for the Kobe trade.

Dude every post I read from you is about "Hey look how great and smart I am". You're the man okay... like wow! Just before this post I read one from you correcting a poster from the BBW community, he said we were happy with 80-100 posters and you smart aleckly corrected him by saying just how many avatars you wasted your time moving... over five thousand! Wow! I'm glad you thought it was worth correcting him and showing how great and mighty you are and then shared the Kupchak story with us to show, well what are you trying to show? All you are showing is a bad attitude towards the BBW guys whos site you just bought away.

    Sure

The answer to Reppin's question is that as a larger entity with more than message board content, S2 can survive in a way we'll never have to sell. As a standalone thing with 50 posters and just a message board, it won't make enough money to pay its own bills. You've already found out, first hand, how it sucks when it doesn't pay its own bills. Sold twice now?

Maybe this sounds "corporate" or whatever, but it's just plain common sense. Cover your expenses and you control your own destiny.

Hey nice man.. your third post in a row that I read now is an attack at BBW . Yeah, true colors are showing. I wonder why people aren't backing you?

Someone had to yes, and your software .. well it works as far as posting and what not and all the server upgrading possibilities and blah blah behind it, those are great but not something the users really care about (but I acknowldge the work).

The bigger point is that you can't keep saying how customizable it is when the very layout of it is what people have issue with. If you really want to please the BBW members you have to stop posting about how great it is, and actually SHOW how great it is. If you changed the layout, even if its just to add a new "BBW Legacy section".. or changed the whole nba section, something.. then you might win some people over. Right now I don't see you being able to change users opinions. On one hand it might be easy to say fuckit, there aren't many members from that site anyway and whoever we keep is great.... but on the other hand you paid a good chunk of money to do it.

Time is ticking though, users who aren't happy here are working on an alternative site to get back what we had..

I;m sorry but I cant post here. It;s slow and I'm not used to this big of a board. It's way to spread out and I miss the easy BBW. But the staff here seem very nice and helpful

Right now I am terribly confused. I don't know what is going on. I thoughts Sports Evo was the new stable site for us BBWers. Now its been closed and the regular BBW site is under mantinence, I'm pretty confused...

Sports Evo is not closed. The server crashed because of too many members on at once. We are now switching servers to better suit the new members.

Well, at first I wasn't wild with the idea of being here, but the admins had a good point to try it out, so that's what I'm about to do. Not wild over the layout, and it's a little slow, but it seems like a good place other than that. So I am definately going to stay for a couple of weeks and see how it works out around here.

    shocker.

well, cant say that im not dissappointed that we had absolutely no forewarning at all, but i am willing to try this place out.

Hey, if you pay that much money for bball world, you must be really dedicated to make this place worth something. So yeah ill try it out. But im probly not gonna post here as much as bbalworld. At least until i get used to the layout (if ever)

I was thinking that same thing Blazers, that if they put that however much money they put into a site, they must be dedicated to it. Plus that MikeDC character seems more than helpful and willing to help out with whatever the BBW members wanted.

Sports Evo is just changing servers so it will be back up. I'll post in both forums.
